Hope you are feeling better choille and the refit is coming together Dave.
As usual I had been sequestered into seasonal bedding plants since March thankfully this is coming to an end. so I can finally get some time off.
I promised myself I was going to calm down on the plant collection now the front is finished but got suckered into bringing home a red banana tree and some stunning calla and cannas so the pub shed is getting a jungle theme a year early Dh was a bit dismayed but its a cheap
makeover as I can pull ferns hostas and motbretia/crocosmia from other parts of the garden as fillers, so his only job is to help strip the turf.
He will thank me for it in the end when he finally gets to retire the lawnmower. I'll skip over the ongoing weeding0 -
morning all....
question for any techy peeps on here !
on my facebook page , on the bar above with the friends/messenger/comments etc icons [that show how many / if there are any messages etc ]... it shows I have but ut wont open up and messages are stacking up !
I have tried everything !! but my techy knowledge is slight to say the least ..... any ideas ??0 -
Not sure alfie, the only way I can open messages on FB is on my laptop from the list of options on the left-hand side, choosing the 'messenger' option. That's just from memory though, so I might be wrong
Not a lot happening here, just feeling overwhelmed with (not) getting the house ready to put up for sale. I feel like just moving out, emptying the house and leaving the estate agent to it, but I've been keeping an eye on the housing market here and it seems that empty houses get knocked down in price quite a bit more than lived in houses...'A watched potato will never chit'...0 -
Pink Poppy what do you need to do to get the house ready for selling?
A lot of people look passed deco & putting in new kitchens & bathrooms is a waste of time & money as it's doubtful you will recoup it. A good clean & de-clutter & if needing a spruce up some emulsion on the walls?
You could pay someone to help you/do this.
Alfie - messenger just click on the bell icon & click on messenger? I think.
Torik - thanks my back is a lot better but I'm not lifting heavy weights or doing anything like digging. It's still a bit iffy but I can walk without being in agony so much improved.
Showers but much dryer & a cool wind but not too bad at all. Had someone here that knows about dogs so was getting tips on Collie Wobble. I think we've allowed him too much of his won way & will have to establish a bit of authority - not a bit but will have to re-establish our authority!
The harness was a mistake coz he can pull like a husky with it on so back to collar & lead.....0 -

Clean and clutter-free is the way to go, not investing in anything new, except maybe paint. I know I fretted over the ancient carpet in the living room, but left it alone on DW's advice. Three years later, when we visited, they were still using it! :rotfl:
Plumber emailed a vague answer to "When are you coming?" which could have meant anything, so having booked him and the other chap for February, we're still stuck in limbo. It's just the way things are here....:undecided Meanwhile, one of our other bogs has conked, so it's out with the wrench today.
In other news, we learned last night that the event we're supporting at the weekend expects us to set up ready to serve the public at 2pm and then close to move out at 4pm! That should be interesting...It's health and safety, apparently. The stall holders will exit en-masse to avoid killing the punters. We run a plant creche, so we'll just leave all the paid-for stuff lying there and clear off? I think not.
Why do 'organisers' do this? They make all these plans, then rush around frantically on the day, getting increasingly dismayed when people do their own thing. It never occurs to them that stall holders have seen and done it all before and are usually competent enough. If they are still selling, they'll not move.
Of course, no one has asked the most important question....which is just as well, because we no longer have public liability insurance! :eek:0 -
Thanks choille & Dave, I think I was just having a bit of a meltdown the other day
I agree it's probably best to not leave the house empty, my biggest problem is keeping it clean, tidy and clutter free. Difficult with two young adults who are doing their best to do the complete opposite. Why does one need 6 bottles of shampoo/conditioner around the bath, plus another 4 bottles of lotions/potions?!... That's just in the bathroom, there's more in her bedroom and even more in the study from when the new bathroom was getting fitted.
I know what you're saying about not bothering with new kitchen/bathroom, choille, but I really wasn't prepared to sell a house with a hole in the bath (glued with araldite so we could still use it) and a toilet that wobbled when you sat on it because it wasn't plumbed in properly :rotfl: It's cost us less than £1500 and we're loving using it while we're still here, so no regrets.
I have a couple more jobs to do and then the house is finally going on the market  Fingers crossed!! We've seen a lovely village in A&B that DH and I both like, so it's going to get exciting when/if we sell this house'A watched potato will never chit'...0 -
I've just phoned the Estate Agent ~ we're going on the market next week, ready or not!! _pale_:eek:'A watched potato will never chit'...0

Good for you PP - hold on to your hat.
That's the way to do it. Good luck.
I take A&B is Argyll & Bute? Lovely part of the world.0 -

best of luck Pink Poppy0
