You're busier than me, alfie, but I'm still frayed at the edges.....

Thought I was getting there with the en-suite, when I suddenly realised - because I was thinking about it properly :o - that some time ago I'd let DW paint the area where the shower is going. It's not a great idea, sticking wall panels to paint, so I decided to clean it off and rough-up the surface a bit, then tank it......

First side took me 6 hours, so for the other side I got out the wallpaper stripper, which was fine for a while, then '!!!!!!!' a large chunk of plaster blew out! It seems that on half that wall Mr Rod didn't bond his plaster coat very well, so anything stuck there would have been in danger of coming adrift. Now I'm tapping the other wall and hearing a hollow sound too. :(:eek:

Dunno what to do. Half of me wants to blast off all the plaster and the dot & dab under it and replace with cement board, but Dan the Joiner Man is arriving in an hour's time and so I can't do that at present.....

.....and we still have no floor! It should be in today though. Heard that before!

    Sounds frustrating Dave!
Hope the minis feel better soon Alfie. My shetland had sweet itch so she had to have pyjamas on in summer.

    Well, things have improved...

First, and most important, last night we had a great aerial display by both swallows and house martins, though it's always hard to tell them apart when they're moving so fast. So, maybe all is not lost yet.:D

Amazingly, our joiner arrived last Wednesday, exactly when he said he would. :j While he was setting-up and screwing stuff together, I found someone sentient at the builders' merchants, who located the flooring we'd ordered, which others had denied existed. Some naughty person hadn't ticked a box, so computer said it wasn't there, and although it was, its whereabouts were unknown.....Nice, helpful people, but....:( Anyway, trip to Barnstaple and the floor was in by lunchtime. :D

The rest went swimmingly...er.. well, maybe only doggy-paddlingly. Howdens had sold us a worktop, but failed to mention they now come with no edging strip....so another 42 mile round trip to pick up. Then we discovered too many doors...which was a nice contrast with the other supplier, who'd ordered two of the wrong colour... No sign of the replacement basin from them either.

So, its there now, sort-of, ready for the plumber at the end of the month, maybe. :undecided

Meanwhile, over the weekend, DW went to Leicester to sort out saris, BiL bought a posher caravan, which somehow meant me doing another long trip too :( and Pete delivered two huge trailerloads of stable manure, because her across the way had run out of space and he didn't have time to spread it on the fields. Fine garden stuff in two years time, but it means he'll be taking hay again now without putting much back. I told him I was thinking of turning the whole grass area into willow and miscanthus....much less hassle than sheep and hay! He almost believed me.:rotfl:

Sounds a bit of a nightmare Dave. Hope that everything sorts out for so you can crack on.

Not a lot happening here as done my back in again. It's raining & low cloud here today - midgies are back. A mallow I took cuttings of from a neighbour has finally survived an is blooming beautifully. The last few succumbed to frost. It's very pretty with pale pink flowers.

Yes, thanks Lucielle - I'm having another bout of physio tomorrow. I've had to go private though as you'd wait forever to get NHS.

It has helped to ease it a lot but I'm just taking it canny until it's better.

Hope the back soon improves with some physio input, choille, even if it means pay-as-you-go. It's so important to find the right one. DW has been through the mill on that over the years, but the three best ones have been found within the NHS....eventually.

Nothing to report here, except quite cold nights still, but no more frosts are expected so I took the polythene off the side vents of the polytunnel. Pete told me I was ignoring "Franklin's Nights," which is a local thing around here in place of "Don't cast a clout...." etc.:o It'a bit of a mouthful to explain, so....

OK never mind Brexit, today I'd vote for anyone who pledges to get us out of this farce once and for all! :(:p:mad:

Never any poll surprises here, though. I can guarantee there'll be the usual two ladies, sitting there, doing a jigsaw. The only matter in doubt is what scene it will depict this time! :rotfl:

Things are just chugging along here with the prospect of rain today and maybe some more in the week ahead. Breezy now, but it's been very quiet weather, which is why we had one of these a few evenings ago:
    P1030165.jpg
Looks like it's crashing into the trees, but that's just foreshortening by the zoom lense. It landed in the field opposite Mr Dog. Izzy had never seen one before, so she leapt onto the fence beside me and growled at it. :rotfl:

We used to have 3 or 4 balloons most warm evenings at the old house, being next door to their favourite take-off park, but I've not seen one this close in Deb'n.

Edit: Note how well our Wild Service Tree (lollipop shape on right) is growing now. The cherry we had to cut down was to the right of it, so it now has the room to expand. Old toll cottage peeping out has just been re-thatched & looks nice.
