sad news jojo but as dave has said thank goodness you have true friends to support you ..
the pic of my foster is a bit deceptive as he looks ALL nose !!
he is 1yr old now and pretty big ! I think theres a bit of st Bernard in him ...... hes a very strong lad, good as gold BUT just blanks me if I call him .. I have to find THE treat of choice to bribe him !!
its cooled off here, wind is up , aprox 10/12 degrees at best . had a few speckles of rain but didn't come to anything..
im pleased with the rain we had the other day as the fields are greening up now .
going to the iow a week tomorrow to pick up a horse trailer we are going to buy . just hope I can drive it onto the ferry back ok ... im alright going forwards but my reversing leaves a lot of grown men crying .... with laughter !0 -
Lovely foster doggie Alfie - must break your heart to give them up.
JoJo sorry about your brother. People can behave really badly at the most desperate of times. Glad that some people were really sustaining. It's a hard row to hoe sometimes. Nice that you have good friends at this time.
Cold wind here and been over east to a talk - loads of deer on the roads on the way back. They are taking out woodland all over the place and it's dispersing them possibly.
Terrible wild fires - one down Gairloch been going for 3 days but it has rained a bit today so hopefully that will curb it.
Feel tired as up early for me and just back in so early night me thinks.0 -
just spent 1/2 hour chasing a big lump of a dog round the field next door whist the lummox flushed out every pheasant in the area , .... !! he got through the tiniest of gaps under my fence ... he has NO recall ! correction , I don't think he has a brain !! he gave up in the end and slouched back with me .... gotta love em !
well we seemed to have missed "Hannah" and got a few dribbles of rain , not enough to do much good ... the rain last week did the job then, so shouldn't complain ... just want to cut our own hay again this year ...
I seem to be here there and everywhere yet getting not a lot done ??!!
off to the IOW next Saturday as didn't get there this weekend gone .. toothache AGAIN !! dentist today told me he will /could root fill and cap it [nhs] and bad as this sounds im going to see private dentist for 2nd opinion .... nhs dentist asked me to sign for examination etc THEN I noticed its a just under £300 bill id signed ! I queried this and he sort of spluttered and said oh I should have explained it better ??!! he also said if it proves "hard to do" he will just take it out .... yep , 2nd opinion needed me finks ...
ive finished planting up all my baskets and tubs now ... got to sort /weed a shrubbery next and in pretty much on top of the garden ... miracles DO happen0 -
Hope that the other dentist is better but I didn't know you could get root canals on NHS. Sometimes it is better just to get it out as it can be problematic for ever & it will keep flaring up.
Just raining but it has been really good weather this last little while. The road is busy with NC500 fast bikes and cars & huge motor homes. It seems to be more popular. I sort of resent it - the beaches filled with people where they are normally pretty deserted. I'm very selfish in that respect.
Been trying to tackle some brambles but it's a slow job. Not much to report here just plodding on.0 -
Yikes! I got my gold tooth NHS-style for just under £250 all-in. It's better than having them all out! DD1 noticed and said I now look like a chav. I didn't think there was any street cred in it.
Norra lot going on. Pete rolled the field on Sunday and I moved a shaver point yesterday. Typical! We only received the fancy certificate from NICEIC the other week and I've already messed with the installation....
The land is greening-up swiftly, so I'll soon be into weed control. I'm wondering if the hot, dry 2018 summer will have had some kind of effect. So far as I can tell, the areas where the weeds proliferated and I re-seeded after treating them, look just like all the rest now.0 -
Back from London DD1 ran the marathon in 5 hours 42 mins. It's taken until today to recover as she said she felt like she'd got the worst hangover. Not long till she goes and I'm dreading it.
As some of you know we are in the lawnmower business. Once again I haven't got a ruddy mower to cut the grass cos it's been sold. I did manage to stick hold of this one for 2 years. Talk about cobblers children. Grass is going to take ages to cut.......sigh

Put a new blade on my mower this week. Amazing how it now works, compared with what it was doing before with a blunt steel bar just whirling about....:j
Trying to remain upbeat, but the shaver point I moved the other day is still in the wrong place, not because of regulations now, but because 'someone' forgot they were putting a big mirror there!:(:(
The nice builder man came here for a reccy yesterday, took a look at the plan and said, "Err, this mirror...."
I'd just drawn an arc, 600mm from the tap location and made sure I was well outside it.Yes, I knew there was a mirror, but not how big it was. I stupidly expected the person who ordered it to know!
Anyway there's no room on that wall, so now the cable must go round a corner onto another wall. I shall let the builder man do it now, whatever it costs.
In other news, we voted. They were protest votes. Then we nearly collided with the chap we didn't vote for on the blind bend near the polling station. Could be an omen ......Hope so!0 -
I don't want to go to work today had a week of the most random questions like "have you got a uppsy daisy bush... a uppsy what???... I dont know what its a called but I call it an uppsy daisy bush" or the classic I have a green bush and its died...why.
It's cosmic payback for giving up my forklift duties
Tuesday is finally our Titchmarsh style garden makeover day, one day of nonstop planting and the front is finally complete much to the neighbours relief, I am the proud owner of the most over engineered fence in Cornwall, I think Brunels bridge into Plymouth was completed sooner :rotfl: DH has taking some ribbing over his fence the Lads told him Trump had called to ask him if was interested in building a wall
He will finally get some time off as the next job is for the professionals to sort the windows and conservatory.0 -
Grrrr! We've just had another two nights with frost, so the fleece has come out again to cover the toms, courgettes, cues etc. Think they're OK, but many of the more tender things on the nursery turn-out area have been scorched.
We visited this place yesterday, as its other openings clash with booked events for the next month or two:
http://www.holbrookgarden.com/
We wanted to gain some ideas for naturalistic styles of planting, as we also have to revamp our front garden in about a year's time.
Went with quite a long plant list and returned with one item from it + six that weren't.0 -
hiya peeps
had a bust few days !
spent Friday pm working on the model railway..
went to the IOW Saturday, bought the horse trailer and towed it home . thankfully ferry was not packed so got on and off without any tricky manoeuvres...
sunday did a heathrow airport run ...
today drove to nr Basingstoke to do a homecheck for the dog rescue.. then enroute to a shop [which turned out to be shut due to BH which id forgotten about ! ]I saw a couple with toddler by a car with flat tyre just in the entrance to the motor museum . I stopped and asked if I could help ... turns out the car had NO spare but had supplied a bottle of gunk you are supposed to blast into the tyre and it is SUPPOSED to miraculously fix the hole and re pump up ... it doesn't work ! got my spare out but didn't fit the holes so that was a no no... then blazing over the horizon came a museum 4x4 with an elderly chap in to the rescue. we had ben spotted on the cctv cameras and he had been "dispatched" to help... long and short m we found a place open and I drove the chap and wheel to garage to get a new tyre ... sorted , got back . tyre on . happy couple !
so I really need a bath now as oily and grubby ...
I HAVE'NT mowed my lawns, I HAVEN'T cleared /weeded my drive and I HAVEN'T cleaned my house but hey ho !
been very cool but dry here .. not had a frost tho,0
