Well I've had a really sh1tty day. On the way into work I hit a collie dog, the noise it made will stay with me for a long time. He shot out of a field gate and neither of us stood a chance. I think he'll be ok, I haven't heard anything. Did call into my vets to see if they'd got him but he must be with the other practice.

The water container for the wash wipes is leaking, which I think/hope is the only damage to the car. Hopefully the chap who works for us can mend it.

    It's definitely wine o' clock

JoJo - sorry to hear of FIL. Hope that he mends soon & you can get another break arranged. These things happen out of the blue & it's always a curve ball.

Lucille - sorry about the dog. Goodness, I know what you mean about the noise. A real thud sound like no other & the yelp/scream. Hope he mends soon.

I have a bit of a health scare on at the mo so am awaiting a scan. It should have been picked up when I had a chest xray over a month ago but seems that no one thought to look at it until I repeatedly nagged for the results so now I am High Priority which is rather scary.
OH is mending well & has a new plaster on & is enjoying being pain free but having to lie on his back is wont to make him snore hence me being up at this ungodly hour - been awake since 3.30 am.
Beautiful sunrise & clear sky this morning - will peg out some washing.
Got a delivery from Howden's yesterday which involved a lot of shoving things through an open upstairs window & I felt the facings were wrong - too narrow - they've sent the wrong stuff. What a pain.

Oh dear, many of you are having such a rough time at present!
    Dodgy hugs all round...:grouphug:

Won't say any more just now. Bit choked-up about something myself, but it doesn't affect us directly at all....

Hope there's good news re the scan, FiL and the collie very shortly.:)

Edit: choille, that's why our carpenter/builder refused point blank to do the kitchen. "They never send all the bits, or the right bits," was all he'd say. :(

I'm sorry for everyone's sad and bad news. I guess most of us are at an age when we break easily, our parents are fragile, and our friends decaying (dis)gracefully. We also seem to have opted for a lifestyle where clambering on rooftops, dealing with feisty animals, and getting cold/hot/wet/tired is commonplace.

It doesn't make it any easier to deal with the grief, to remember the reason why we grieve is for all those hundreds, tens of thousand good moments and hours, all stored up as memories and emotion. But, those happy memories live on, and win over in the end.

Best wishes to all, whatever your circumstances.

That's a lovely, eloquent way of putting it.

The positives I'm trying to hold onto right now are -

We had a great time at Beautiful Days and I felt really appreciated for the work I did,

It looks like it's leading to a potentially much better paid job in this area, one which would allow me to clear debts, save and improve my credit rating, potentially even high enough for a deposit & mortgage,

When staying on the Moors, we met and put a very talented young performer/her parents in touch with somebody who could be the key to breaking into the Business.

Himself had planned and arranged something really special for me,

FIL is still here and still very much has all his marbles,

FIL is being less guarded and actually talking about stuff like feelings and vulnerability rather than pretending everything's fine,

FIL is getting the best treatment possible (and is now looking much happier now he's in the Rehabilitation Unit),

Two of our best friends have gone out their way whilst heading down to visit family in Cornwall to meet up with Himself (and call me to let me know how he's doing) and will be doing the same a few times whilst they're in driving distance - and I suspect will be doing similar for me when they're back.

The window cleaner knocked and mentioned that he took it upon himself to water the windowboxes a couple of times whilst we were away, no charge, (which is why I suppose they're looking so full and happy now),

The Bloke who runs the corner shop asked where Himself was and said he'd missed seeing him so knew something was up, sending his best wishes.

Admittedly, whilst I'm nursing a migraine, my back and my hip hurts, I miss the daft sod and he nearly made me cry on the phone because I could hear his voice starting to crack as he said goodnight and the Idiot Cat has eaten so quickly, he has proceeded to expel his meal over the floor I have just cleaned, it's a bit harder to do that. But those are definitely positives when so much is difficult right now.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

Sorry to hear of everyone's sad news.
we are having the oddest weather its overcast and lots of mizzle but im still having to water like its still in a heat wave.
Not a lot done in the garden as I got recalled to help in the house, kitchen almost finished and just starting on the lounge, I knew something was up with the speed that DH was cracking on. It's a bit like when a kid tidies up their bedroom before asking for something, and he decided he really needs a new car, I've done quite well out of the negotiations with securing a new sofa the house should be fully done excluding the extension by Christmas then we can crack on proper with the garden its slowly taking shape with the sad plants I bring home from work this weeks addition to the family was a merryweather damson, hopefully it will cheer up, I haven't had damson jam in ages.

Our damson is laden at the moment. :D

As it's now September I'm winding-down with the nursery plants so I can focus on the other stuff which has fallen behind.:o We've done really well this year, but they're a distraction IMO. DW enjoys flogging the plants though! :undecided

The local garden centre suddenly closed-down last week, holding a liqudation one day sale for locals, but I didn't go. It's not that I felt responsible, because our sales will have had only a marginal effect, but I was never one of their good customers. The 10 week main road diversion was the final straw; men in grey suits having totally c0cked-up the signage for that and the radio announcements. Would you believe that one of the points they announced as the diversion point is, in reality, an impassable bridleway?:rotfl:Still, the garden centre could have sorted all that, but didn't, so I think they'd already given up.

Our lone chicken has adapted really well to being on her own, but next week we're picking-up a couple of pullets from a local breeder DW met, who's offered mates rates. We can always re-home them if/when necessary.

I was upset a few days ago because I found out more regarding the decision on the site for affordable homes our village Land Trust wish to build, which has now blighted our best friends' house. Our friends were hoping to sell and relocate in this area in the coming year, but now, understandably, they feel very let down by those who pushed for this site, rather than another which is actually inside the development boundary.... near more up-market houses. ;)

Now, assuming they can sell in a situation where there are many 'known unknowns,' friends intend to leave the area altogether. :(

    hiya peeps...

well, got over all the paperwork schimozzle stuff ..
never knew there was so much involved ! I was hoping my brother would have dealt with all this [he is executor for mum and dad] but it didn't seem to occur to him.. BUT we had our ups and downs whilst doing it all [mum and I] we laughed , we cried but all is on track now, I know its early days but my mum is SO strong a person...

anyway I have been gardening outside work hours with a vengeance.. wears me out but keeps me occupied .
mowed the lawn within an inch of its life !

hamster went home today, having looked after it for a month ...and kept it alive !!
all went well till I tried to get the cage ,with various adventure style tubes twirling around it , out the front door.... I caught a tube and off it pinged onto the drive with a somewhat stunned hamster walking out of it like it had drunk a bottle JD ! of all the places the hamster decided to hide !! I was mortified ... grabbed the furry critter and bunged him back in the cage ... this was all just after id said "oh, I can look after him any time ! " ......

I have bailey big lab coming to stay for a week tomorrow. couldn't let them down as flights booked etc. hes a big lump but loveable .

sun is shining here and in the low 20s most days.. actually watered the garden last T time !

hope you have all had a good weekend peeps xx
