  • morning all,

my head feels like a bucket being wacked by a sledge hammer lol..

yesterday my eyes, nose, throat were really bad, and I thought it was breaking out so to speak, as by tea time, I started feeling a lot better, then early this morning, bam, back again..not as bad as yesterday, so hopefully it will ease even more over the weekend..

one of the piglets is limping, so waiting for vet to phone us back, so we can take it in to be seen too, so there is another negative equity piglet lol..

whether we are just unlucky, or there is a lot more things happening in general with piglets and no one says anything?? or as there is hardly any money to be made with pigs, they don't bother with vets etc...which is totally naff....

I think this black Friday thing is OTT.... and just a big ploy for companies to have a sales surge before Christmas ..

I don't know if it is true, but the meaning of black Friday was when people used to sell their slaves, the day after thanks giving..

the meaning of black Friday over here, is the Friday before Christmas everyone finished earrly in work and went out on the pith.....

Alfie, hope you have a fab time tonight.. bunnying around lol

It's ironic that you'll get the vet in for a piglin, but you won't go to the doc, CTC! :naughty:

Perhaps you could suggest a two for one deal with the vet?! After all it's Black Friday.

HAHAHAHA.... might just do that... if its good enough for our pigs lol...

Its all over FB about police being called out to supermarkets, due to the fighting etc...

preaching to the unpreachable dave.....;) :D i think us animog lovers would all be the same. i spoke to someone the other day saying theyd lost some sheep.. i asked what was wrong and he shrugged, said "dont know" and drove off in his state of the ark 4x4  i have no time for people who take no responsibility for the welfare of animogs. apart from the undisclosed causing rural conamination problems, it is just bluddy selfish ... ok my rabbit duties beckon, have a good evening all :D

    Morning! Rather nice here. :)

Hope you feel better CTC, alfie and anyone else under par today.

Sold 8 squash yesterday at an average of £1 each, so that was good. :D At this rate, I might seriously consider using a corner of the field to grow them, like around the big power pole, where the stays prevent a hay harvest. ;)

All Black Friday did here was stop me ordering a couple of things, as I figured there'll be less chance of a c0ck-up once the fuss has died down.

EDIT: I was wrong about the knives yesterday. DW says they were only so cheap (cheap??) because MiL paid half the cost!:o Still means local shop was competitive with Amazon though, which was my point. :p
  • it was soooo funny piglin was in the back of the van in a large dog cage...vet looking at him, and we were havinga good old chat, about the last time he seen us,and asked how the sow was ( he came out and was with us for over and hour, just chatting, until he had his next emergency call out lol).. he picked piglin up and held him and yes the piglin sqeeled his head off, he felt his trotter and his shoulder and couldn't feel any breaks, as it was hard to give him a proper examination... he gave him an anti-flam and pain killer injection, and we got to inject him again on sunday..there is no swelling, but as he is a chunky piglin.. its not effecting his eating etc.. the vet said there is also a condition that effects piglets that they can get an infection via their bibble cord when they are born, and causes arthritis type symptons in their joints...
All that cost £21.00..... TBH the price of call outs and examinations or treatment at the vets for farm animals really do seem cheap compared to if you took a cat or a dog in.. I can remember taking 'Ugly' the stray cat in the first time, and all that was, was a examination to determine that she needed an operation to clean and tidy up and stitch her wound under her front leg, a anti-B injection and that cost more or less £40..
If this doesn't cure the problem, then we will have to make the decision on what to do, as we discussed with the vet, we will never not seek vets advice and help, but as he told us, and we agreed with farm animals you do have to look at the commercial value, as this piglet will have a short life anyway...

Bilmey! We've paid more than £21 just for a hen diagnosis.... and we went to them.:T

Not any more though! As you say, there has to be a sensible balance with costs, whatever the animal.

Speaking of hens, I've noticed our hybrids are laying much better eggs now than they were a year ago. I wonder why?

....and don't say the pure breeds have been teaching them! :rotfl:

Well, we joined the bunged up under par brigade early this week and its not getting better yet :(

Eight sleeping here while DD1's new house extension is in a critical phase with floors up etc.

Black Friday came and went without much fuss. We have no intention of heavily discounting rare collectables but sales are pretty solid even so, ephemera topping the categories.

morning all...:D well white rabbit hit the street last night with a bang :rotfl::rotfl: the intention was to hand out cards for the antiques centre to the masses and reward children with a likkle sweety. [carrying a basket of sweets with extreme lack of vision is not easy]. i had little kids giving me hugs and BIG kids giving me hugs  i had more "selfies" than i can count ! i had the occasional child that went into post traumatic stress at the sight of a large rabbit dancing in the street to a local band...:o then there was the group of "i know it all" 13yr olds who persisted on pushing and shoving me thinking it was BIG.... until.... i "hugged" one [vice like hug ;) ] and said in his ear "have you ever been thumped by a rabbit.... more to the point do you WANT to be thumped by a rabbit".... he got the message and they disapeared ....:D i then helped sell mince pie and mulled wine from outside the shop [in aid of RNLI] . by 8.30 i was pooped ... went into tesco and bought myself a korma . i did remove my head ;):D :rotfl: all in all a brilliant laugh. its amazing how courageous/outrageous one can be incognito ;) p.s. i cant hardly walk today tho.... my dancing madly days are getting fewer :rotfl::rotfl:
