talking about the dreaded lurgy, haven't been right for the last day or two, like I am on the brink of a cold, throat is starting to hurt,
I am way behind on my ebay listings, so really do need to do a final push for those pre- Christmas ebay sales.
I am in two minds to phone the auction house up and see if we can put things in the next auction next week, or if it is too late??
..
CTC, when we put stuff in last year I think it was about 2 months before they were auctioned.0 -

Oh yes, it's their fault, but the builder hasn't built sound-deadened walls before, so he didn't know what they looked like either!
It's the blind leading the blind here! :rotfl:
Just had the survey done for the free insulation. The guy who did it was originally a plasterer, so he was very keen on seeing what we are up to here. Installation isn't till mid January, though! :eek:0 -

send a letter to santa for thermals ... think you might need them, especially if we don't have another mild winter..
sound deadened walls!!! I think all new houses should be built with these.. been home all day at house1, and next door are getting worse and worse... no wonder some people just lose the plot with noisy neighbours!!!
maybe I should apply for a holding number for a 'pet pig' in the garden... now that would be fun and games lol..( I wouldn't as it would be cruel for a pig to put up that racket all day and night)Work to live= not live to work0 -

Hmmm.....the builders' merchants sent £160 worth of acoustic bars to us which aren't that at all, so now the builder has to rip all of them out.

Oh dear Dave sounds like it is going to be messy. The waste of time and hassle sorting out things like this can make you wish you'd never bloomin' started.
It is appears to be the day for 'mistakes':mad::mad:
Installer and his mate have just spent hours fitting the top and bottom trims to the units in the utility.
This is how the trims are fitted at the bottom of the wall units in the kitchen
And this is what the bloomin' idiots have done in the utility
It looks like a complete dogs breakfast in the utility
Mr BD is as angry as I've seen him for years. He has followed the installer home with photo's to ask what an earth they thought they were doing.
Sorting this out will result in more delays as more trim will have to be specially ordered. The last bit of the kitchen was finally finished today - after 5 months. The utility was started in September. The installer didn't order enough doors and is also short a side panel - so they are on back order too. He only had to order 6 doors and one side panel and he couldn't even get that right :mad::mad:

Lock up your credit cards
It's Black Friday;););)
Come on, own up, who was queuing outside Asda at midnight :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
My confession is that I bought a knife set for Mr BD for Christmas - he has been saying for a while that he wanted one so I got him this for £25 on 'Black Friday' week:

And on the Black Friday theme
This is madness at Tesco's for TV's

Oh dear, Better Days, your installers don't seem to be the brightest buttons in the box, do they?
 To mess-up, when they already have finished units to look at......words fail me!
We have no great problem if the correct sound isolation bars can be delivered fairly swiftly, but without them, we can't put any plasterboard up.
We're doing especially heavy, well insulated, stud walls, because they're quicker and less messy than blockwork, but they'll feel similar. It's also much easier to run wires and pipes in them. As we're getting the materials cheaply, it won't add hugely to the overall cost of the build - maybe £1k.
Didn't sleep too well, despite being warmer. I think the image of alfie dressed as a rabbit is troubling me! :rotfl:0 -

The installer had the gall to tell Mr BD that he thought we wanted it like that - but of course didn't bother to ask :mad::mad:
My only consolation is that there is still a lot outstanding on the bill, so there will be room for negotiation when we sit down with the installer to talk about it. And to add insult to injury it appears that the installer expects us to pay extra on top of his quote for his mate to do the trims. As far as I'm concerned he has subcontracted the work out and he should bear the cost. Oh and he expects us to pay extra on top of the quote for the plumbing in the utility too. Absolutely ridiculous. And this isn't even taking into account what he thinks he is charging us for rectifying his mistakes.
Googled sound insulation bars - never heard of such things - and apparently they eliminate 'nail popping' - sounds painfulStill pretty mild, so you shouldn't be too chilly today, even though your upper stories are 'al fresco' atm.
How are you CTC today? It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

Your knives and talk of Black Friday made me Google to see what ours might have cost if we'd bought them now, instead of back in the summer. I remember, I grumbled that we'd have been better waiting till the post Christmas sales....:o
I got a pleasant surprise. These are the ones:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/W%C3%BCsthof-CLASSIC-Knife-block-Bbeechwood/dp/B0000AI40F/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1417166321&sr=8-5&keywords=wusthof+knives+classic
If they'd been that price we'd not have even considered them, but a local cook shop was having a promotion, so we bought ours at what they said was 1/2 price.....£100!:j
It just shows that buying locally can be OK, or that someone is making a heck of a profit!
Edit to add: Posh knives are all very well, but we have a couple that receive just as much use....50p each in South Molton Recycle!:rotfl:0
