Just dodged some , rushing around to let the chickens out before it hit....there's a big white blob thing on the weather map here, which I suppose means sleet, as it's not cold enough for snow. :(

After today, it looks as if things will perk-up a little in this region, but there's still nothing wonderful predicted for the beginning week of April. I've just realised the swallows could be back in 10 days or so....

Decided to browse an old maps site last night and got a shock.....we had a footpath! It's still shown on a map from the early 1970s, but there's nothing on modern OS at all.

Having slept on it, I think it was probably never a public right of way, just a path, which fell out of use when the farm was split up. It would have cut off a corner for any worker coming from the village and it must've fallen into disuse when the large modern barns below us were built, as it passes right through them.

The council here have begun a process of reinstating some footpaths, but we weren't contacted for that. My guess is that no one thought it worthwhile; the path wouldn't lead anywhere useful, as the track which goes through the barn complex just peters out.

Had to euthanise one of my betta fishes, Lady Macbeth, today. I guess giving them names is the 1st mistake :(

Some sort of intestinal parasite which I'd treated before but never really eliminated so she'd been poorly for a while. As the tank was shared with Lady Penelope, need to focus on her health.

I'd be hopeless with a sentient pet...

    Morning all,

Glad the old horse lady was OK... Did you find out what happened to her car??

Had to have the vet out on bank holiday Monday.. ' big girl' her back leg from her knee down was badly swollen. And she couldn't put any weight on it. She was fine on Sunday.. And she was stumbling.. Vet came out and given her an pain killer and strong anti B's.. Injected her again yesterday with pain killer, and the anti b tomorrow ( one injection lasts 3 days).. I was crying my heat out.. As if it isn't an infection.. Then it might be a chipped bone.. . or something like that..if the anti B's don't work then...._pale__pale__pale_:(

She has slowly started putting some weight on her foot, but it could be because of the pain killer injection...

The thing is , she is a big girl, hence the name lol...plus she was one of our first pigs..

Blue skies this morning.. So fingers crossed it will be nice all day..

Hope Big Girl perks up OK, CTC. Sheep here often go lame, but they usually recover unaided. It can take a few weeks. Pete brought some mangel wurzels up for them last night, but they've just looked at them with disgust.

Pleased to hear your Mum is recovering alfie; it will make things a bit easier and less worrisome for you. :)

We've had the kids and grandchild, Sam, here over Easter, so progress has been a bit random...... I'm not sure if it's bonfire today or soft play! :rotfl:

Horse Woman's car is in a garage in South Somerset, CTC, but that's all I know. From an insurance POV, it's bound to be a write-off. Not much call for damaged, rusted-out, automatic W reg, Suzuki 4x4s! :(

Glad your Mum is recovering Alfie. Hopefully she'll be less sore soon.

CTC - Hope pig is okay. If you need to slaughter & she's had AB then there is a certain amount of time that has had to elapse to be able to get the meat.
This happened to friends who had their pig treated & then[[ it[ ha[d to be put down, but as the drug would still be in the system they couldn't use it - sorry to be graphic & looking at it that way - but you will know this.

Helicopter was hanging around the top of the loch late on last night & a fire engine or ambulance went down, so must have been an accident I think.

Sorry about your Beta Fish IHS. We were in a hotel in Gairloch & they have the most amazing fish tank - a rock with loads of tunnels & turrets - like volcanic castle - almost & the planting is superb, lovely bright flashing coloured fish & it all look like an intricate undersea world.

Our local shop that shut nearly two years ago opened again yesterday & the couple who have bought it are so nice, but I don't know if it will be a success as most folks have found alternatives. They are not doing a post office so it will still be the out reach.

It's really cold & a dusting of snow again on the tops.
