Leg much better, even if VERY painful at moments, but curse those hospitals - why do they allow ill people to attend? We both picked up a flu-like bug so I actually have to do stuff, as OH suffered worse. Harumph. She was in bed early, so I had to cook the roast beef.. then a chicken the next night. Anyway, I can poo-pick and thrash nettles as well as ever, although I'm staying a bit clear of the horses for now. Donkeys are actually more gentle. I've been forbidden to chop trees down and burn them, so not happy!
Probably for the best.
That Nigel Farrago came campaigning down our street at my previous house during the election. I didn't have the wit of my elderly neighbour who deflated the pompous windbag by asking who he was when he knocked. She then just said "Oh", and quietly closed the door. Cool biddy. Neil & Christine Hamilton just make me want to barf.
If anyone wants some beech wood around here, they can help themselves. There are a couple of tree trunks, about four feet six inches in diameter, and 25 or 30 feet long, and they are hollowed out and full of mud, so chainsawing is difficult. I can't even burn them, as they are right beside the lane, and the safety elves would emerge. I have got the top wood, and that's a car-sized mound just from those two. So much of the wood has either fallen and rotted, or rotted ivy-clad where it stands, it's such a waste. I love seeing wife pull over a substantial tree with a rope.... More are/will be planted
We have a two-thirds dead hedgehog, a half-dead rook, and a very alive and angry (but injured wing) black-headed gull. Guess Hopalong will be up at 3am to check them.:rotfl: Can't even blame the mad (charity!) horse woman, as not her doing. We did get another horse from her, so we are in double-digit equines now. Dunno, but I found myself shopping for Horse Woman this morning.
She already has another car in the pipeline. Someone expired in the little town and his daughter just wants rid of the vehicle. She's unable to say what it is, so I'm guessing it was all arranged by 'phone via the garage.....:undecided Should be interesting!
She's already talking of going to East Anglia in it, so her recent experience hasn't put her off. DW cross-questioned her today, and I'm wrong; she didn't collide with anyone after all.
Mind you, she didn't 'hit a big bump' either. She somehow lost the A303, went down a lane and drove into a ditch...
So, that's all right.0 -
glad you are on the mend dafty..

its an illness ! we originally had my old pony...lonely so got an elderly TB as companion.. old pony dies....TB lonely....went to get mini shet, couldn't decide so got 2... one had a foal... fostered 4, kept 2, old TB died... got ruby... fostered old mini shet, not gone back.... loaned cob and Shetland... ended up buying them... = 10 !!
we have aprox 24 acres in 5 paddocks and we have to juggle for grazing to make sure ground isn't in overkill ...
and STILL if theres one "in need" id be tempted.... but I am strong and WILL say NO....
I have just agreed to foster a sweet little cocker spaniel ! she is 2-3 yrs old and was very matted and up for sale ... guy who trained ruby came across her and couldn't leave her in situ... if he hadn't "bought her" she would have ended up as a breeding machine.. she has been clipped [matts on her ears were like bricks !] and is running round like a spring lamb. don't know how she is so sweet !! I will get a pic next week....
had MY first lesson today re driving ruby... I was carp !! she has been "finely tuned" and I haven't !!0 -
mollie,flo,lori,dora,comfry,Nellie,stephy,pip,storm ruby... = 10

that has baffled me how 9 = 10 !!0 -
I'm going to be horrible cheeky and ask you if you'd be kind enough to sign the petition I put up on the Parliamentary Petition website...
Was reading a thing about the DWP's FOI reply about toilets in Jobcentres and it made me really cross.
Now that pension age is rising, and more WRAG ESA people are going to Jobcentres, and sometimes for quite long meetings, I think it's unacceptable that there aren't publicly available toilets. Any of us could have been in need of help from DWP - in fact I have for over 20 years, but reached retirement age before everything went pear shaped.
Please don't quote from here, as petition gives my full name so will delete later.
Anyway, after a day of Tweeting I'm approaching the 500 mark which I'm pretty amazed at.

Yes, maggie it's a cause that's worth fighting.
In our region they are closing public loos, yet were going to spend £700,00 0n cladding a very ugly building in gold coloured cladding - the local councillors thought it worthy, but not public loos being open.
They've had to rethink after thousands signed a petition about the cladding, so here's hoping with yours.0 -
Yes, maggie it's a cause that's worth fighting.
I had a tweet from a lady who had been in the Jobcentre with a 3 year old girl who needed toilet, she was told to take her to the Wimpy down the road.
Know what you mean about public toilets too - can't think of any in Liverpool city centre. And then the police wonder why people p155 in the streets. <roll eyes smiley needed here>

535 signatures now maggie.:D
As a man of a 'certain age,' I know that needs in that direction may arise suddenly, and although able-bodied, my sprinting isn't what it was....:o0 -
I would have thought there would be public toilets in a job centre ..
I have signed, also shared it onto fb.. So fingers crossed you will get some more signatures..Work to live= not live to work0
