Must be infectious. I've been cutting down a few trees that have been ringed, and having a massive tidy-up of the woodland hill walk. Well, that's what it'll be named when tidied(I'll give it official status with capitals someday soon).

I have three small bonfires on the go at the moment, and once coffee is swilled, I'm off to set a fourth. Great fun using a wheelbarrow to breed bonfires. It used to be my job when I was six or seven. Those safety elves would have had a fit back then.

There are some rooks in one of the huge trees eyeing me up, wondering if I'm taking their home down. No chance! My chainsaw would melt at the thought.

I'm beginning to count trees, and see what we've actually got. I've found a third, productive, sweet chestnut this afternoon, so that's great. Rather too many ringed trees, but that's the previous owner for you.

Found that car hasn't had an MOT since Oct 2015!

Don't know how I managed to avoid ANPR cameras for so long...it's going into the garage on Thu!

Found that car hasn't had an MOT since Oct 2015!.

I know we're MoT'd on ours, but I've kept the tax discs on to remind me when that happens, although we'll get the usual reminders.

Glad to say my 'banging shockers' were actually just worn links on the anti-roll bar, costing £9.50, so that was a relief. :)

Yes, back to tree work again today, although only for a few hours. We managed to drop 6 more, making two into laid trunks and cutting four clean through as firewood. It's quite an art, getting them to fall properly, and we've been quite canny by using some trees as fulcrums when pulling the rope.

Anyway, we haven't smashed the fence yet, nor have we had one go into the road, although it's been a bit hairy at times!
It's been so dry, I should be able to get the van into the field to pick everything up shortly. :D

I was able to try my ride-on properly for the first time yesterday too. :j A rather steep learning curve, but nothing was cut down which wasn't meant to be, which makes a nice change. :p

Now I need to work out how to defeat all the safety devices....;)

I'm not a fan of rooks, Dafty. There's a rookery beside the poshest houses in the village, but they kick-up such a din, nothing would persuade me to live there! :(

Rayburn is out - de-plumbed & under plastic outside.

Woman supposed to come Thursday morning for it & pay - everyone cross fingers. New one arrives Thursday, but won't be plumbed in until Monday as new plumber is busy.

Beautiful weather - quite breath taking. Come cold tonight, but the kitchen still feel s warm with the solar gain.
Spent the afternoon & also a bit yesterday prising out brambles with a pick. The joiner jiggered my adze that was perfect for the job, so I'm all back ache as the heavy pick is very unwieldy. Found a youngish tree that has conked over, so tried to get that out but didn't really get on very far - fed up with blunt rip saw.
Tomorrow we have to go over to Inverness for OH to meet up with his surgeon to see how his hip is doing & also to see about his ankles.

It was such a rubbish year last year I'm actually thinking of a no-veg garden year as it was such a waste of energy last year. The beds are in such a state even looking at them is exhausting.
    I'm turning into a sloth...................

With all the things going on here, I might have to give Monet and friends a miss, but I'm hoping to visit this place, which is easier for me to reach. It's not a garden, but I'm sure it's somewhere Monet would have approved of. Recently saved for the nation too :):
