    hi all...

went to see my ruby today and went out for a drive :j
I see what he means being a madam tho ! she has a habit apparently of lying down if she doesn't want to do something [not in the cart !] so he showed me the "antidote..." he puts ropes over in certain directions and then somehow HE makes her lie down... of course cos its not HER decision she doesn't want to !! he stands behind her kneck [she IS lying down] with a rope across and when she goes to get up he lowers the rope ,sort of across kneck to the ground, to keep her down.. after about 5 mins..... she goes to sleep ! :rotfl:
she is being tethered out in the field to train her for last week and the donut went down to have a good roll after the drive and ended up with the chain lying across her kneck/shoulder and she thought she was being told to stay so.... went to sleep there :rotfl: mind you he produced her feed and hay and she shot up !!
im so pleased that he seems so good with her. he uses old fashioned methods and she will drive over anything ! not like the arty farty lot I spoke to who train really prissy like and don't anticipate all the odd ball stuff that could happen ....
    worth every penny :D
I have to go next weekend to go on a really long drive with her and if im happy she will be home within days from that :T
sorry to witter on BUT IM SO EXCITED !!!!

You sound like my DD1 with your cashback etc, CTC. :T
She's trying to teach me how to do it too, but I'm hopeless, even forgetting my vouchers when I go shopping. :o They often expire before I can use them anyway!

But I'm good at finding some bargains. My camera was getting very cranky, thanks to all the building dust last year, so I started looking around for something better to replace it. I followed a few auctions then bid on one by popping out of the woodwork in the last 15 seconds.

It came today. About £350 worth of camera and accessories for £70 and everything is completely new and unmarked. :D OK it's a model from a couple of years ago, but I'm not bothered about that. :)

I couldn't understand why someone would buy all that stuff and then not even take a few snaps....until I remembered that in a box 'somewhere' is an unused, very rare pre-digital camera I bought 20 years ago as a sort of investment. It's current price on the Bay is about £10.

    I paid £60!!! :o:rotfl:

Two "ladies" rode past this afternoon while I was doing some weeding. They didn't spot me.

You should have heard the language!!!

I'm sure you and the 'man' are always polite, even when excited. This horse was trying to have its own way,and the women seemed to be swearing it into submission. smiley-angry007.gif

I just cowered. Dunno who they were.......fortunately!

Added to my 'livestock', 4 Salt and pepper catfish (Corydoras habrosus) native to Venezuela. Each is barely more than 10mm long and rapidly disappeared amongst the plants to search for nibbles.

They may grow to 2cm in time.

Continuing my desire to grow plants which are 'difficult' in Scotland, picked up a Hedychium (ginger lily) which I'll start in the conservatory along with the cannas, ixias and dahlias.

From the 'keeping it alive' POV, Hedychium isn't too difficult, IHS, but they do need to wake up reasonably early if the flowers are to arrive in time. I keep mine very dry in winter, but that can mean I fail to kick-start them when I should.....like now. :o

We've just had a couple of glorious days here, but I know it's not been like that all over, so I'll just mention the improving weather that should reach all of us by Sunday. :D

The rivers are quite well-filled, but our garden's dry enough to work on, so we've cut-back hard and weeded-through in the hope that it will look after itself again for a few months in early summer. ;)

The major thing I did today was relocate a pittosporum. I planted it between the 2 septic tanks in 2013, saying, "We'll find a proper home for this soon." Famous last words!
Today, it was reduced to just a stem and shifted into a less dangerous place where its roots will do no harm....if it survives. :o

I think I've said before that our main perennial garden will shift westwards by about 50' once the digger work is finished behind our house. Then, the garden we have today will slowly grow into more of a shrubby shelter belt. It's great theory, anyway! :rotfl:

Alfie, the chap who's training Ruby sounds a real gem. I hope he's got someone watching his methods to keep the skills alive.

I'd love to learn horsey things from somebody like that.

Still having problems with my alloys I've had 3 flats in the space of 2 weeks because the alloys keep cracking. I've written to Volvo but they are denying they have a problem and its because of the roads. Yes they are bad but there are 3 other people in the house who drive and don't have the problems I have. I've started saving to get it swopped. It is a lovely car and so comfortable but I can't keep going on with it.
