Just in from a bit of light weeding. It is dull and hot here. The borage was finished but put up a good fight when I tried to remove it. Pretty as the flowers may be that plant hurt me continuously throughout the summer so if I buy it again I will need to think carefully about where I put it!
So much to do in the garden but I never seem to have time when it is dry!Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Lap top on the blink so I may go absent without leave.
Looked at new ones as it seems this one could crash at any time. We've had it a while. I seem to be out of date with iPads, tablets, smart phones - don't know a scooby about these things, but picked a new computer & OH will get a A3 printer/scanner as old printer has given up & lives in the trailer awaiting it's final resting place.
Dull here & showery.
Last time my computer was on the blink, I pulled everything onto memory sticks. After I shut it down, it refused to start again. It's still in the barn in a bin bag, waiting for me to buy it a new hard drive, but I may just ebay minus the drive.
So glad I saved the stuff on it.I keep back-ups now.:A
Current computer was built by an old pensioner guy in Torquay, who thought he'd start a small business with his hobby. Trouble was, it cost him more to make it than he received from me....and then I persuaded him to put Windows 7 on it.
His workshop was in the roof of his bungalow, up a ladder. It was like the Starship Enterprise up there. His wife told DW she was no good at climbing......:rotfl:0 -
hi all
been reading on my likkle pad thingy but it wouldn't let me reply/write.. signal was carp this last week but seemed enough for small "pad"
weather has changed here although my mother has been like a whirl wind round here !! gardening, weeding, hoovering, ironing etc. im not complaining but makes me feel guilty ! shes 84 later this year and I feel old :rotfl:
looks like solicitors can exchange/complete for flat on same day [I had to put a bomb up their butt tho] so should be in next 2 weeks, but she's having the bathroom done before she moves in...
new sheep have settled in, got quote for field shelter 20ft x 14 ft. kick boards etc plus "skids" ,solid good wood 2k... that's put up.
not a lot to report here, just trying to sort mums stuff out and work !
hope weather not too bad for all.0 -
Sensible Mum :A, alfie, getting the bafroom sorted before moving in: they are not a thing to sort after, unless there's two.
We are on 1.5 at present, with one door!
Weather not too bad here, with a lovely evening, which I'm afraid I just had to spoil.Mr Dog left his little dog barking all day. When he got home, I suddenly had to do 2 hours strimming at t'other end of land....:rotfl:Needed doing.
Wish we had some sheep!0 -
No news here either, really.
. All is well. We had enough of our own peaches to make puddings from them And eat them raw,
We found a second mulberry and are it like the first, but by candle light.
Um....
Yeah, I think that's it.. Raspberries going well, blackberries well in, but the rain is getting in the way of picking them.
Pumpkins looking ok, but we don't have much in for winter ( our beet and chard both ran to seed )
Herb garden just amazing....living and giving, but needs a good weed. Loads of chAmomile between the flags, who is great, and lettuce. Less fun are the chick weeds etc! Pears looking ok..

Good that Mum is able to help Alfie - marvellous - send her up here for a week or two.
Shelter for sheep is something we should do for the males, but all available funds is on the house & house related stuff at the mo.
Tried to get some more currants picked but the midgies are horridly nippy today as it's dull & overcast. Feels quite cool - 1st day of autumn - well in some folks book. Quite a depressing thought being such a shoite year weather wise.
LIR - you sound busy & fruitful. Lovely to have such a variety of stuff. I am not very successful with stuff this year.0 -
Messed-up with the money at the end of the month.
After flipping a whole heap over to our building account for the kitchen, forgot to flip it back to cover the credit card. Ouch!:o
Rang up, as I haven't a clue, but figured I'd be charged a month's interest, but would they give me a straight answer? Nothing was showing, because due to the holiday, "our screens have not updated yet."
So, was there any advantage in my paying now?
"Sorry sir, I am unable to give financial advice."
"I'll take that as a 'No' then!"
Could be worse, but that bank used to be so good.....:(
Lots of other people haven't 'updated' either, like the kitchen co, the plumber and the electricians, although they later made a guest appearance for 50 minutes, before charging off to another gig....:undecided
Meanwhile, the air ambulance hovered, finally descending like aerial Russian roulette near the place for vulnerable youngsters . Everyone supports it, but no one wants to be calling it into their back yard....
About 15 possibly vital minutes later, the ambulance streaked-by.0 -
Dave - sorry to hear of your patchy progress. It's so damnable & annoying.
We are not progressing much - OH's mobility is really restricted so he does his work & helps with stuff if he can.
I just moan...really.
Used a spray primer/varnish on two external doors I got off Gumtree. The aerosol didn't last very long - 1 1/2 coats on one side, so that was a rubbish buy from LIDLs - more for a hobby thing I think.
The house now stinks like a glue sniffers' den.0 -
Evening all
Lir, you herbs sound wonderful, and to get another mulberry!!
On our regional weather forecast they said to expect ground for at the weekend!!!!! Temps are going to dip big time over the coming days... And no sign of an i ndian summer..better get my thermals out ready lol
Going to buy some prepared hyacinth bulbs over the next few days and grow them in recycled baked beans tins etc ( with rustic Hessian/ bows etc around the tin) to see if I can sell them around chrimbo time.. Was just wondering how much I could sell them for???
Don't know if its best to fill the tin with small gravel, and then fill just below the bulb level??Work to live= not live to work0 -
What a hard slog the last couple of days have been and the week is shaping to look no better with lots of long journeys to make.
The show went well and we had lovely weather but it was a long day. OH did 5 loads moving things onto the field and slept n the truck overnight just in case anybody decided to help themselves.
Have a bit of aggro from some dealers who aren't happy we could possibly be encroaching on 'their' patch. Tomorrow could be an interesting day as OH has a meeting with one of them.
In other most excellent news DS2 has had his remark back and he's got his C. He has decided against 6th form and will be going to the college. We have a meeting on Thursday.
I'm just about running on empty so going for a bath and then beddy byes.
