It is amazing how much you can save on things.
I've been surprised at how you can buy things for a lot less - not just a few quid, but massively cheaper. Google is handy dandy. Saves on the leg work.0 -
Have we not heard fromAlfie since the show? Hope she is ok. Not like her0

morning all.....:hello:
ive not dropped of t' edge ...yet
IHS.... I hope your mums better..
long day at the show, lot of walking and joints tell the tale..:o
mum thoroughly enjoyed herself and sat in the stands people watching ... the mounted household calvary were brilliant. they gave the equivelant of a musical motorcycle display with all the crossovers etc. imagine BIG horses, charging around , flags flying and cheersthe finale being the last horse galloping the full length of the arena with big union jack flying and it was top speed !! [reined one handed !] the drum horse was so wonderfull ... weather was perfect
also bought some plants [4 big pots]at the end of show sale but cant remember what they are?? tall bright daisy looking thingsif the are seed grown I will save seeds CTC
yesterday was a blurjoints hurt ! mum and "sister" went to see dad . other sister coming today so im meeting her at dads and then we will get a bite to eat and !!!!! about "S"...:rotfl:

talking loo's...
I remember years ago when son was only about 3, I went to france on a camping holiday with friends. this involved a stop over somewhere en route to campsite. after a long boat trip etc it was dark when we got there [at stopover tent] and having found the temp accommodation I decided I needed the loo. I set off through a vast colony of tents and found this old courtyard that was showers/loos [bearing in mind the torch was somewhere in the bottom of the car and not in my hand ] . I went into what can only be described as a box .. it was a tight fit ! as I left I turned to pull the "chain " [bearing in mind the door was still shut] and as I did so the high cistern did a complete revolution and deposited a bucket load of water on my head.. I was trapped ! and soaked ! I managed to get out and set off across the courtyard back to the tent . pitch black by now I couldn't remember where the bluddy tent was ... so I stumbled around causing chaos as I tripped over what seemed every tents guy lines.. I had a fast track course on how to say expletives in many languages by the occupants of the tents I was disrupting ..
I was of course having a fit of the giggles as I must have looked like id emerged from a horror film... every time someone complained I laughed more... which didn't help me find our tent. I was rescued by friend who "heard me coming" ....
got some "looks" in the morning !0 -
sorry, playing catch up..
LIR.. always good to have a bargain.. you will sleep happy
choille... hope you gave ex plumber short shrift
ihs.... did you give the tank [fish] time to establish.. sometimes "overclean" isn't good. if snails died then I think you may have a problem cos they are as tough as old boots ? a bit of algae is what they need as that's their job to clean etc.. hopefully it will sort itself.
ctc... good luck with the sale.
rummer.. like dave said , perhaps just change all the switches ? and a new fuse box isn't expensive , but get a leccy man to change over. my electrics here are old but that's what was done for here and its sorted now.
if ive missed other news and not commented ...ooops0 -
DW had her MRI scan today, at last. They've been trying to find out why she has pain when walking, and this is probably the best chance of finding out. Everyone's baffled. Good that they are using this expensive kit on Saturdays too now.
My legs aren't that clever today either, but that's because of me grovelling all over the kitchen floor yesterday, ripping up tiles.
I'm not complaining though. When I was in my early 20s, two silly motorbike accidents meant that I couldn't sit crosslegged at all, and for a couple of years I believed I'd stay that way for life.0 -
Busy day for me, just back from hospital visiting, they expect mum to get home on Tuesday.
Took the opportunity to look into B&Q bargain bucket and got two orchids knocked down to £2 each and an indoor plant arrangement for £4, down from £12. I'll repot everything and probably use the ceramic bowl for cacti.
Also got two fish to replace loses and another aquatic plant. Pretty sure my aquarium experienced a sudden increase of ammonia in the water but it measured OK today after water changes.
Started to redo the 'problem' area of sodden clay & shade at the back of my garden, first job is more drains.0 -
hi all.....
well hate to say it to some folks but its been another corker of a day here 20-21degrees ...
went to see pops but he was very tired and couldn't keep awake.. bit worryinghe was like that yesterday too apparently.
had nice lunch with nice sister then dropped her back to the ferry.
popped in to see mum on way home [cos I knew not nice sis was out] and poor mum was exhausted. she's used to a nap in the afternoon and NNS has had her packing stuff, charity shop trips and allsorts... and shes suggested "changes" to her staying with me... I have to bite my tongue ..............
picked up big dog then packed up car ready for tomorrow.
im thinking re the massive dollshouse that I have that there may be some little girl/children who would love it. im thinking a disabled or poorly child, hospice etc. will have to ask about. id gladly give it [and furniture] if I thought it would be enjoyed.
anyway, im all packed and forecast seems good...0 -
Good luck Alfie!!!
Well, we made a fair bed base.it turns out. We slept like dogs, or logs, or what ever people on comfortable beds sleep like.
Had not quite appreciated the impact of the sleigh bell effect from the brass half tester above and we think we can i prove bed base ( as we got tired we took a few short cuts and made slats from short pieces which tipped us towards the centre, which while nice and snuggly might be a pain in very hot weather. But, we knew we were doing that while we were doing it IYSWIM. Its a great prototype though, and seeing it in place gave rise to some decorative ideas for the ultimate bed base.0 -
Fed up with stripping tiles now, but we have plenty already, so may find another use for them when we put a bog in the barn.
The kitchen co have put the installation date back by a week, as we were too slow choosing appliances. That wasn't entirely unintentional! The state of the floor isn't good in places now
, so we will need to see what they expect there.
Central heating boiler + radiators come tomorrow, with the promise of installation beginning later in the week.
It's all happening...but the garden + outside is a mess. :undecided0
