Does anyone else find slugs in their kitchen at night, or is it just me

Yes, I know exactly what you mean about the dust! The tiles I've just ripped up, come with a layer of gunk underneath, which I'm now chiselling away.....Then there's the dodgy bits of screed to remove..:(

But we won't be done with dust for a while; not until the living room fireplace is sorted and some replastering in there. It's never-ending.

Down at t'other end, DW is painting now, so that's good, but some more tiles are to come out in the wee shower room in there, so no top coats on the woodwork yet.;)

The decorating takes an age for a good finish, and it's the finishing that matters. Couldn't believe some of the painting the previous folks did. It's like they all had glaucoma! :rotfl:

Still, I can always compare and contrast with the time in 1981 when we came home to find someone had set fire to our house. Then it was like "Where do we start?" as all the walls, floors, ceilings, windows and furniture were matt black!

It took two solid weeks with steamers etc to get all the walls & ceilings back to bare plaster, all the windows renewed and so on, before we could start to sort stuff out....Good way to get your renovations done in 6 months though! :rotfl:

We have a joiner comes a few days a week who is good at most things.

OH seems to think that this will do, but I think the progress is painful. It seems such a guddle with nothing finished really. It's driving me mad as everywhere is getting covered in plaster dust. I seem to be a bit useless as there's nothing I can really do at the moment as I am waiting for things to get to the painting stage - things are half done if you see what I mean.

Are you water tight? Is the Rayburn in?

Could you camp on the kitchen at least?

My house is permanently half done :o:)

We get slug trails, but I rarely see the slugs. Gross, huh?

We're not too bad for slugs apart from hairy cat bringing them in on his 'skirts'! Like Dave's cat does. Where I used to live (more central belt) we were plagued with snails & slugs. I would go out at night, catch them using a head torch & I would fill a bucket we would then take them for a drive!

Dave that must have been terrible having a fire - I once burnt a pan of mince that seemed to be ages to clear up as it stained ceilings & got inside cupboards etc.

The paint does take a while, but when the wood is new it's easier. Just the wibble wobbles that the plasterer left isn't great even after we got some remedial work done.

The Rayburn is in place. There's no water on. The flue is still in boxes. I'm kinda glad that ex-plumber didn't start cutting a hole in the roof now - in hindsight.........

Just been digging a ditch for the drains. Just in made the sandwiches tea & it's started raining so good timing there.

Hey up! Didn't get the job I applied for. Boo-there loss. Taking DD1 for her spa morning on Thursday which her sister is paying for and then got afternoon tea booked should be good.

DDs have got a challenge on as they are painting one of the hallways. It was a real mess before and needed doing. Trouble is I'm supposed to be doing the glossing but can't find the paintbrushes. I've got to wait for OH to come home but my enthusiasm is waning.

Had a long day in work today 9 hours with no lunch also need OH home then I can make tea.

Had planned to take Friday off but my uncle has died so will need to take a different day off to go to the funeral. Not sure if mum will want to go, will have to find the details out first.

Not long until DS2 comes back from Madagascar, next Wednesday, you can bet your bottom dollar the funeral will be that day! Then holibobs a week on Saturday. Whoop.

Got some lovely people coming to look after the chooks and hopefully DS1 will have his dog off for her hols as well.
