It's Old Fair in town near here today. The organiser was on the radio yesterday, saying that 'in her time,' it had hardly ever rained on Fair Day.

    Well, 'tis raining now m'dear!:rotfl:

The water isn't related to OH & ours conditions - his is genetic blood disorder mine is probably genetic but wouldn't be helped by contaminated water. Just ordered at UV light thing & saved over a hundred & 50. Went to a place in Inverness & the guy was really boorish & as if we were low life. Seems they do huge jobs - hatcheries etc. Pleased we phoned a guy we know & got the website of much better co - try & buy local & what bother you can get sometimes not worth the hassle.

I'm really quite tricked with the Dunelm Mill. They have some lovely bird fabric covered storage boxes & pictures too & paper in Dorma & other stuff. They are having a sale & I did buy some curtains as they were much cheaper than I could have made! I wish now I hadn't bought the Laura Ashley fabric - I would have saved a fortune.

Finally a dry (ish) day and I was just pottering about the garden collecting black currants in a small bowl to make a crumble. There is a whole load of work to be done out there however it was lovely just to walk about and look at what is thriving (ok mainly weeds :rotfl:)

Yes,Rummer - I've been doing similar as it is dry for just now.

I've been hacking down broom - which seems a shame, but it is shameless - however it does improve the ground being of the pea family.

I think our resident swallows have fledged at last - they've been very successful in the upstairs of the house - as is the shoite......

Our swallows fledged some time ago.:D I wondered if they might go for a second brood, but it doesn't look like it.

I'm not bothered because, as you say, there is ordure to endure, though ours kept it all in one place this time, so we just covered stuff there with a bit of damp proof membrane.

DW bought a Buddleia crispa at the Old Fair, which seemed a tad risky to me, so I purchased Hydrangea macrophylla 'Blue Wave' in Morrisons this afternoon for the princely sum of £1.33! :p

Poor Eric Ferret has had no luck at all with Viburnum 'Eve Price' on his grave, as the first one was attacked by some kind of mini-tornado and reduced to green waste. So, I propagated about 6 plants from the destroyed bush and re-planted one of them a couple of months ago.....only to run the damn thing over with my new wheeled brushcutter last week! :o As Wilf Ferret next door has a magnificent H stellata in bloom at the moment, I think it's obvious Eric needs something similar. :D

Great result at the [STRIKE]tip[/STRIKE] recycling centre this afernoon, where I disposed of what I estimated to be about 15 bags of plasterboard for the price of 5. They even waved me around the waiting cars as a 'paying customer!' :rotfl:

A far cry from the place I normally use, which is nearer.

It stayed dry all afternoon :j so we made the most of it and went for a nice long walk in the sunshine. If it is still nice tomorrow then I might get some gardening done.

Some folks use plaster board off cuts to sweeten sore ground!!!!!! I think it's the lime - Haven't tried it yet, but I think it's possibly greener than carting it miles to the tip - but we've been doing that & filling the wheelie bin.

That hydrangea sounds very cheap. I do like Morrisons for plants - they seem very good & very cheap. I also like their bakery department & their caff.......which is far too tasty.

I've been pulling out thistles & filling the wheelie bin with those - well over filling really.

Starting to drizzle now. Midgies will be feasting out there.

Had a very odd phone call from ex plumber wanting to know why we haven't paid him. We have yet to get a bill. He said he has prepared one & it sounds like it's going to be over the top.

People have to pay to dispose of plasterboard here: £3.50 a sack officially.

It's free at my daughter's place in Brum, so every council seems to make its own rules.....

...but our tip is run by SITA, so it's rather confusing!

As for thistles in the bin...:eek::eek: That's green waste and they won't take it if they see it. You see, people pay for green waste to be collected too. :(

The board I got shot of today had polystyrene backing, so I didn't want to put it or the foil-backed stuff on the land. However, I dare say we could use some of the normal stuff, as we are quite acid here.

don't take any carp ! did you have a written price at start that you can deduct from ? id tell him a price then tell him to take it or leave it... the onus is on him to decide then. hope it goes well.

when ive visited dad I call in at morrisons ..cos son will only eat their sausage rolls AND I get a handmade fruit/custard flan thingy [or two] for mum as a treat... they look amazing and only £1 !! that's the only time im that way... would love a M closer..

sister [on a canal boat "up country"]has suddenly announced she is arriving at mums tomorrow.. its months since she's visited and she's left it to last minute ... she has a habit of interfering/ criticising etc so mums not looking forward to it sadly.. im staying well out of the way or I may be honest ;)
