Not been around today as it's been a busy day in the garden.......have planted dozens of perennials/alpines as I decided that having started the job I needed to finish it
I completely agree about gardens being a reflection of their owners....I'm hoping to achieve that here in time, but for now it's kind of a mix of my taste and the PO's (much of which I can't bring myself to remove as it's just too established), but overall - whilst I do love a formal (think topiary or knot) garden - it's going to be relatively informal/wild/cottage-y. In fact it's looking more cottage-y than our last garden that curiously was in a more rural setting.....
For now, much of what *we* like is seen in our choice of statuary, planters etc....things - like our internal decorative objects - that have been collected over twenty-odd years.....our Toyah Wilcox's head for example, that came to us from her Wiltshire house by way of a reclamation yard
That said, part of our reason for choosing to buy this house was for the potential not just of the house itself, but the garden which when first viewed had a wonderful kind of *secret garden* feel.....and that, coincidentally, was the name of the first business I had when I left uni, so I guess I've always been drawn to that look of garden, lol!Mortgage-free for fourteen years!

Back to cold and wet with me, that hardly needs saying does it?
Bought online a dozen plugs of primula, white campion and yellow flag iris; I expect the iris will take a while to get to flowering size.
Rain canopy has arrived, it projects 1m from the wall so should give some protection to the agaves underneath; weekend job to install that.
Borders are at last beginning to fill-out, but it's so slow without any hot days...

I've received the official photos from the Panto at last. I knew they were coming, dreckly.....;)
The shot I wanted was one I didn't really expect the photographer to catch, but he did! :T

Glad the kitchen is getting finalised Dave. If you are owt like Mr Choille you'll leave the final decision to Mrs Dave then they take the wrap if it doesn't live up too expectations.
You got it in one!:rotfl:
I know Mrs Dave wouldn't like the kitchen I'd go for, so there's no point me trying to push her in that direction. This one is the combined effort of DW and DD2, and I trust their judgement, espcially DD.
Anyway, we have to choose something...What we have now is enough to make Vivyan from the Young Ones wince!
Very impressed with the seeds I received today from the company I linked to the other day. Not only are the packets well-priced and generous, but each one is stapled to a colour sheet with two A5 sides of info and detailed growing instructions that may be filed for reference. Very practical. :A
Some ladies in the village had a meet-up today and the result was a load of new plants for me to pot up tonight.0
