OOOH sounds posh Dave!

Well, the curtains are cheepy-cheapo ones from Dunelm, but they certainly beat the bit of cardboard box I put over the window when I was in here before! :rotfl:
The office is one of our compromises. About 2.35m in both directions, it's just large enough to house the basic office stuff we need. When I eventually source a new corner desk, it'll be fine. Unfortunately, most cheap desks are built too high for me to type on comfortably, so I'll need an adjustable.
The Aga's finally conked. Ran out of oil yesterday pm, just in time for a drop in temperatures, which seems set to stay over the next week or so.:(
The rain here was very welcome, though not long-lasting. It looks as if there will be more on the way soon, so we may yet get our April weather.... in May.0 -

Lovely sunny day here today - definitely chillier though, although that didn't stop us having lunch on our new garden furniture on the terrace!
Yesterday we went out to a Plant Hunter's Fair at Sugnall Kitchen Garden, near Eccleshall. Just as we parked up the heavens opened, but it was only a short, sharp shower so we were soon able to get rummaging around the stalls where we picked up a few more interesting plants, including Podophyllum Versipelle Spotty Dotty (fab foliage as the name implies!), Crambe Cordifolua (has Gypsophylla-like cloud of flowers) and grows to 6-8') and Lathyrus Aureus (pea family with delicate burnt orange arching stems of flowers).....
We also purchased a few slightly unusual herbs (Vietnamese Coriander, Japanese Purple Parsley and Rumex Flexuosa) to add to the herb garden
On the way home we stopped for lunch/shopping at the pretty vilłage of Eccleshall and wondered which celeb was getting married in the village church as there were hoards of ladies with mahoosive, overblown headgear and a police presence. Having enquired in the florist's shop where we were buying some candles for the garden, we discovered it was a gipsy wedding - the shopkeeper had done the floral displays, bouquets etc - and was apparently being filmed for a *Big Fat Gipsy Wedding* type show.
Today I've been making the most of the weather, getting things in the ground/planters, but it's going to be a long process, methinks as some areas are so overgrown I'm struggling to salvage anything worth keeping. Geums seem to have taken over the herbaceous bordersMortgage-free for fourteen years!

Blizzards here & really cold breeze that would take your face off.
Just noticed a robin nest in the banking - only saw it as lady robin flew in & I went For a nosey as I couldn't be sure but she's in there on eggs. Bit near the ground though.
Goodness - the guy who's doing some filling is making a rubbish job but he's a sort of friend - delicate situation, but the finish is really !!!!ing me off...................0 -

I knew it was darned cold somewhere behind that breeze!
We had a robin's nest too, right up in the soffits where our builder left a piece out. "Oh, that's too big a hole, nothing will nest in there!" he assured us.
Hmm, a week to 10 days ago, I inspected and found the nest with 3 chicks in it, right where I needed to run my BT cable!
Yesterday, the nest was empty. One of the fledged chicks was dead by the back door the day before, but the other two may have made it.
Phoebe, I am really envious of that list, but watch out for slugs & snails where the crambe is concerned. The lathyrus is a rarity because it's such a poor germinator, something I can vouch for, as the seeds I 'borrowed' somewhere, refuse to come up!
:(
Oh, and Vietnamese coriander must overwinter out of frosts. I used to keep mine in a slightly heated frame. It may get red spider mites too, but it's a must if you are a coriander fiend, and so easy to propagate.0 -
Thank you Dave - I'll bear all your sage advice in mind
The Plant Hunter Fairs are small, but do seem to attract growers of the more interesting specimens and the one yesterday was in a beautiful setting too which always makes for a pleasant excursion!
At the moment we seem to be an almost slug/snail-free zone here (keeping everything crossed, as down in Wilts we were inundated with the little blighters) - excepting the giant carved wood snail currently sitting on the stone pond surroundMortgage-free for fourteen years!

Not around much because fir is on holiday and its unbelievable.. We are relaxing in a way we had forgotten how to. Right now he's gone for a run then we are going to start weeding the rose gold border. ( now we've moved chickens from that garden the ground elder is back, it might be simply worth bringing chickens back!!!)

CTC - I haven't been to hairdressers in over 20 years, but I really must.
Have an enjoyable day getting it done.
LIR - Good that you're relaxing. Nice you ae getting the weather to too. We had snow yesterday, but it's only white on the tops. Bright day - they had 4" of snow over East yesterday. It is sunny but decidedly chilly.
Hopefully it will be a day where some outdoor stuff gets done as the cladding isn't finished nor the flue up. The island unit is so beautiful I just love it which is pathetic, and it will show the rest of the place up, but I am so glad I got it.
OH out tackling the plasterer - OMG!0
