Mum taken a distinct turn for the worse today, prognosis isn't looking good although they are still continuing treatment but wouldn't resuscitate in the event of another heart attack.

After having sat with her today, I do think she's slipping away.

Oh IHS, so very sorry to hear that. I hope that you feel able to accept some cyber hugs from Liverpool - they are very heartfelt, as remember how awful it was when my Dad, followed closely by my Mum, had their final times. Hope that things go as easily as possible for both you and your Mum.

Will be thinking of you and your family.

IHS.... it must be a terrible for you .. being there with her, is the most comforting thing you can do for her.. How is your Dad?? How long have they been together?

I know they only sound like words, but even though we are not there physically we are here for you, and you and your family are in our thoughts....

Thanks everyone; after the last couple of months of ill health with dad and now mum today broke the emotional dam and I now have some hankies to wash. I shall feel a silly billy if she bounces back!

They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary back in 2013, having outlived pretty much everyone they knew. Mum's oldest friend died a few weeks back; from the phone bills they used to chat for hours.

Its healthy to let go IHS, what ever happens. Just don't worry about being a silly billy. Do what you need to.

Sending {{{hugs}}} your way IHS, as you know I can totally sympathise with your situation. Mine also celebrated their 60th (but in 2012) but apart from a few moments together in the nursing home, they spent the day apart as by then my dad's vascular dementia made him a loose canon amongst other residents and staff alike.......

I've still not cried yet since losing mum over two weeks ago, but then I'm like my dad was in that respect, a bit of a toughie emotionally :o

Dave - sounds as though you had a good day at the village sale - all positive and good for business!

LIR - that looks lovely :)

Been hectic here today - had a guy collecting a large antique piece this morning, closely followed by someone dropping off a collection (music stuff) for DH to peruse with a view to purchasing for onward sale. Then headed off to Bodenham Arboretum to a plant sale where we only bought a few plants but found some lovely pots a guy fires in a kiln in his back garden, so bought a few bits from him....

After that we shot home past the Holy Austin Rock Houses at Kinver - which look fascinating and worth a visit when we've more time - and had a picnic lunch on the balcony looking out over the countryside before heading out into the wilderness to get more planting done, whew!

Just watching Monty on iPlayer where he said it's way to early to plant out sweet peas. Oops, mine went in the ground today - at least they've been hardened off in the coldframe.

D'oh, mine have been sitting outdoors in pots for some time! Can't work it out though, why peas could go out this week and be sown direct but sweet peas no...? I thought they were all tough as old boots!

It is particularly chilly again tonight, so I've got a cover on my giant propagator, but Im going to have to make something with more clearance for the tall things soon!

Glad you've found something to take your mind off your troubles IHS, I find gardening always gives you something to look forward to. My thoughts are with you too.

Our Kitchen plans are afoot, I finally got the builder round to have a look, just waiting for his quote. We're going to update the fuse board and change the kitchen window into a door so it's a bit more involved but in for a penny...

And we are swaying toward letting the builder organise everything, plumber, sparky, door, assuming the price is ok. while it might save a few quid to bring in subbies myself I find being the go-between is not easy, time consuming and if it's not executed well causes delays and saves nothing....I'm being realistic, there are things my time would be better spent on.

Like the garden! The newly opened kitchen door will mean a lot more use of the garden, and we're treating ourselves to a small hot tub, it's for our 10th wedding anniversary later this year.

we were going to book a holiday but it just ain't gonna happen, by the time we've paid for animal care, kennels for dogs etc it's not worth it. And I can't relax when I'm away from the farm, so I might as well have my relaxation here. It'll probably be under a pergola so I've got grand ideas for lush tropical planting all around it, fairly lights, candles in jars, heaven!
