((Hugs)) phoebe. It's a sad, yet positive time, difficult to describe, so 'relief' sums it up. The unresolvable is resolved. Dementia slowly steals the real loved one away, making the end easier to bear, but the finality is still upsetting.
There must be some relief for you too, lir. Another positive, so welcome with spring and other changes around the corner.....;)
Here, the brave new MSE was briefly glimpsed, but I had more urgent things on my plate, like another wall coming down, so I didn't fully comprehend what I was seeing. I've lost my email alerts and await technical assistance from MSE Towers, but it's obvious that they have other stuff on their minds....... :wall:
I'll give them a week, then maybe re-register as a new user, or do something drastic, like start 25 threads about it in 'Site Feedback' overnight! :rotfl:0 -
Morning all,
cold last night, but it looks as though its a cold start, but nice and bright for now, with rain to follow for us..
hubby has got a funeral to go to tomorrow, so the bike will have its official ride out tomorrow, I will not be going, need to work...
Alfie... so if you are my sister, then LIR and I are sisters too... always wanted sisters lol...
the 3 of us are def going to have to meet up, as I am sure Lir and I will get one well too..
Maybe one day in the summer we are meet up at LIR's if that's ok..
the piggles that are left are doing really well, and are growing infront of our eyes.. even the little runt is piling on the lbs..
Alfie... there are orphan lambs starting to be advertised around here now...
also haven't had time to look properly for you, but if you go onto
www.farmingads.co.uk and click on livestock, and then click on wales, you can see what is being sold down here, or if you click on sheep, it will show you want sheep are being sold around the country, and at what price etc..Work to live= not live to work0 -
How are you today phoebe?
Thinking of you.
Heavy frost here this morning but at least its sunny.
Mr BD is still confined to his bed with daft as a brush lurcher keeping him company. Our long planned trip to Wales will have to be cancelled if Mr BD doesn't improve by Friday morning. Dang I knew I shouldn't have saved a bit of money and booked the hotel on a non-refunable basis. Obviously it was tempting fate more than fate could resist.
:(:(
Got a T*sco order coming this morning - with a new supply of Lemsip (just in case the three year out of date stuff doesn't do the trick) - capsules and powder - belt and braces approach
Hate the new BBC News website. Hate the new MSE forum. Both look 'orrible on my lappy. Bah humbug.......It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

Phoebe sorry to hear your sad news :A When my FiL died with dementia MiL was just making arrangements for a care home, he'd got so bad she couldn't look after him, when he wasn't in hospital that is. And it was a relief, we always said we lost him a long time ago, the person that remained was not who she married and not my hubbys dad.
Alfie, technically you need to be able to wash and disinfect wherever animals are transported BUT a dog crate in the back of a car, with a tarp under seems to pass the test, that's how I got my first goats, seats down in my little hatchback, got some very funny looks driving home! :rotfl:
No new arrivals since Friday, good to have a breather! And just had my mum visiting for a couple of days, which was nice. It was quite an effort getting the place ready but now it is tidy ish and the spare room is fit for visitors again I'm going to try and keep it that way
It did mean I've only just got round to clearing the rubbish off and around my big propagatoronly to find bloomin rats have eaten the heater cable AGAIN  I've ordered a replacement to come tomorrow so not too much of a setback. My fault for leaving things so untidy and hospitable for the evil creatures over winter, but I'm not impressed - this is war!
That said, apart from the odd warm day it's still pretty cold here and I don't think new plants would be doing much, so I'm probably not that far behind where I could be.
I've been picking up bargain plants in the various shops lately, got some very good deals. Now I just need the chickens to finish weeding the new raised beds (I chuck some corn in to encourage them) and I can get the plants in the ground0 -
"the spare room is fit for visitors again I'm going to try and keep it that way
"
I think it might be a day or two before our guest room is ready for visitors.....:D0 -
Christ Alive Dave!
Scarily though, that's going to be me in the kitchen in the not too distant future. Another three layers of tiles to get off the walls, floor to ceiling, lucky it's not a big room!
Alfie, forgot to say, the distance restrictions for transporting livestock won't apply to you in this case as you're not keeping them for commercial purposes, in case anyone asks. Normally the limit is 60km or just under 40 miles, you need a qualification/certificate to go further.
Apparently (overheard chatting at the abattoir) whoever checks these things has been stopping vehicles moving livestock and asking for their transporter numbers recently in the South Wales area, perhaps the van is a better bet?!0 -
I think that is for commercial livestock..
we are not commercial, and we accompany our animals.. so I think we would be ok..
fk as you are commercial, then you would need a class 1 or type one ( I think that's what it is lol)
will check up on again on this again, and will ask at market next week, to make sure..
I think its a theory test anyway.. for journeys less than 8 hours, but I might be wrong..Work to live= not live to work0 -
Yes it's just a multiple choice test, I did it ages ago, must check it doesn't need to be renewed...
Not 100% sure what the definition is, I remember the phrase they used was "economic activity" which I think means for pet animals or ones you slaughter for yourself you're ok to go as far as you like but if you sell the meat or sell livestock I think you need to stick to the distance or take the test to go further.
I remember reading something in a farming magazine soon after the changes, warning people if they took animals to market say 30 miles away but they didn't sell and you took them home, it was counted as one journey of 60 miles and you'd have to have the certificate. Bit daft, seeing as they're unloaded, but caught people out apparently.
I'd check with animal health to be on the safe side, how far is the market from you? It can only be a few miles further on than me, and you're that bit nearer to go to the abattoir, you should be under anyway?
Can't believe how light it still is, I'm hanging round waiting for it to get dark enough to put birdies to bed, and I don't want to start dinner or any other jobs til they're in. Be even better next week!0 -
