morning all,
looks as though the next weeks there will be lots going on up the ranch.. so will have to do another sweep of the house to see what crap we can sell on the bay...
fingers crossed we will actually of a double glazing guy turn up today and measure up and give us a quote... it is someone the builder uses a lot... and to save money the firm will fit them, and hubby and builder will take out the old ones, and finish off around the new windows etc, not going to have upvc window sills, going to have a nice bit of slate/stone etc
but in the mean time... I need a cuppa lolWork to live= not live to work0 -
All sounds good CTC.

Been potting-on orchids - never done this before so a bit of guesswork needed on mixing the bark, coconut and perlite. After 12 months you find out if it's been successful!0

Fed up of leaks. Another leaky joint on a trough. Its not one that needs to be used so I've simply turned the stopcock I had put to it off, and will empty it. But its tedious. And a reminder that at some point we are going. To need to replumb out there,
.
Horrid wet morning, and an east breeze. None the less, I have things to move this weekend. My little wild strawbs ( which I've already had a couple of ripe ones this spring!, though not great flavour) are going into the difficult corners of the herb beds. Such troopers, those berries. Such joy givers.0 -
Oh, if anyone sees wide copper tape at a good price let me know.....I want a fair whack of it. I'm going to try it around the herb beds.0

Cheapest is to get British Gas or someone else with a quota obligation to the government to put it in for free.
There are no strings or income qualifications with a lot of these deals. No one asked me any questions.0 -
Hmmm... with lots of other work to do, we took the day to prep for the village's first Country Market tomorrow.
We aren't going to make a fortune, but we've managed to rustle-up a few things that look decent, many of them originally destined for our garden! :rotfl:
Next month will be easier, and the one after that will be easy, but it was a bit of a cruel thing to spring on us in the winter months!
I hope we make something, because I spent £110 on line buying more trees and shrubs yesterday!
lir, I checked the price of Grazon pro at MVF the other day, but it was still cheaper on-line. They said they're going to do a promotion next month, but I won't hold my breath....You may use something different anyway.0 -

looked at their criteria, the house can not be wood, steel or STONE construction, which is a bit of a poop lol..
the builder did mention you can get it for free, plus he also said now and again its on sale...
now when I think f lof insulation I think of that itchy stuff, but when I have googled/looked at homebase, b&q etc, it looks totally diff ???
window man came, and gave us a quote, which was good.. so we are doing one side of gthe house first, plus its will done on a 'first fix' basis, so hubby and builder will finish it off, which makes it cheaper, and we will still get our fensa cert..
I thought the prices on the stable doors were expensive, but got plenty of time to shop around for prices... as we will be digging up the floor re damp coarse and under floor heating on that side of the ranch before we put the new doors in...Work to live= not live to work0 -

In our attic we have an under layer of foil wrapped stuff and a top layer of wool. Tbh. I'd love even more. I don't think you can have too much tbh, but that gives us the right minimum amount for now....cannot remember what that is....a foot or something like that?0
