Rummer, I don't know your climate well, but I'd probably cut & lift dahlias in mid-November; earlier if the frost has blackened them. They then might need a week of drying out a bit before storage.

I'm almost an Ebay selling virgin, so quite excited that I have bidders on my fire surround and some glazed pine doors. :j

Our climate is usually cold and wet :rotfl: however it is quite mild here atm. Thank you for that guidance.

When do you all put in you seed orders? Spring or earlier? I don't need much this year just a few new herbs :D

Delighted to hear that Bimble is ok, he sounds like a real character and I am quite certain that I would adore him ;) Sorry to hear your mum is still a bit under the weather, it must be a real comfort to her know that you are there.

Oh that boy looks mischievous and wise, a fun and winning combination!

I keep meaning to ask how Ruby is progressing? What age is she now? When do you think she will be ready to introduce to riding (I hate describing it as breaking :o)?

Alf, Bimble looks like Harvie in Harvie and the rabbit sketch!! No sense knocked in unfortunately! Glad you got the parcel, story of Gus was mostly good, shame Lilian died early and I wonder whether, in 50-100 years time, people will read our correspondence and wonder what kind of people we were. I only sent you one condolence letter, really brings it home (and upsetting) to see the many more of them we kept. Proud of DD1 who has bought one of the ceramic poppies at the Tower. CTC, I think bed is a small double/large single but too knackered to get it out of car today. Bit of a beast, heavy, and we'll try to work out how it fits together tomorrow if weather ok. Will let you know

Oh Alfie she is a real stunner!!! I think it is always best to let horses develop at their own pace there is no need to rush them or have them ridden before they are ready. Do you still have that lady working with Ruby? How is the Cob coming on?

Lovely ponio Alfie. Not ridden for 2 years now, must try and do something about that.

DS1 has been away for 5 weeks, milking on another dairy farm with 2000 cows. Silly sausage has hurt his leg jumping on a motor bike. Will they ever learn?

Had uni visit to Harper Adams. Its not the best news. DD1 is going to have to do a foundation course as she hasn't got A level Biology. She wanted to take it but school wouldn't let her.

Young Farmers county ball tonight. It will be DS2s first time. Think I'll have to stay up late to pick up. Sigh.

I've been away with work again, this time for a team building session. Went to Kielder and did crate stacking, Jacobs ladder and canoeing. Covered in bruises and my back and hip are very sore. Going to the docs with back on Monday as it has been sore for over a month now.

Hoping to get some pallets chopped up tomorrow.
