    "50 Shades of Hay"?

Nah, I don't really see a car full of hay as the ultimate in depravity! :rotfl:
    :rotfl:

It's not baled, just loose - pitch forked in. OH was at the DOcs today & when he went in the Doc was laughing his head off as he'd looked out the window & seen the car stuffed.

We did once have a ram in the back, but that was different, but we were getting followed & Zebedee was looking out the back at them. I think they must have thought we had a very ugly passenger with a weird hairdo. But he is very very handsome indeed. Probably quite illegal....
When people used to get a reduction on the ferries if they were transporting animals, there were crofters who used toput a sheep in their Volvo to get over cheaper. They'd let them out for a bit, but just did it for the cheaper ferry costs.

Haven't tried sheep, but I can tell you two loose ferrets in a car does little for one's observance of the Highway Code.

Speaking of sheep, ours seem very well-behaved again this year. The ground isn't terribly wet, so there have been no foot problems either.

Better Days, how's your DH's Panto going?

Ours has plateaued I think, and that's before most of us have learned all our words!

We're really missing someone to give strong direction, and to wield a red pen where there's far too much waffle. No one wants to upset anyone else, that's the problem. :o

I'm lucky. My bits only total about 7 minutes, most of which is just slapstick. In that time, I help my partner give mouth to mouth resuscitation, use a defibrillator, do kung-fu, and I also have my knickers fall down. All pretty standard stuff for a lady from the WI... Oooh! Missed you last night, but great to see you're back, Rummer! :j:j:j

Glad all's well, even if you are rushed off your feet. ;)

Our baby isn't too well at present, as he has an unidentified eye condition, but specialists will be seeing him today. It might be a reaction to medication for what was considered an eye infection, or it might be something else.

It wasn't keeping him awake last night, anyway. :)
  • MORNING ALL,

    nice to see you Rummer...

lol Choille and Davesnave, 50 shades of hay....

Market day today... decided to take 3 of the porkers... one o htem was the one that was booked into the aboitoir a few weeks back, but we didn't take him because hubby was ill that week, plus his 2 sisters are going to.. it looked as though they didn't 'catch' and we thought with all the work we got to do over the next few months etc... to cut back now.... will prob take the well grown on weaners to another auction in a few weeks..

that will mean we will mean we will have 4 piggy runs for 4 - 5 pigs.. the new run we just had fenced. we will keep that empty for a while, even though there is a lot of under growth in there,we will wait a while until all the new spring growth starts.. and move the pigs into it then, 2 runs are now empty.. so will leave them.. to rest for a while, unless a bargain turns up at the auctions lol....

What is it with double glazing firms? I have phone 5 or 6, and they tell me either they are not in our area at the moment, or they tell me their sales person will phone to make an appointment, and they don't, OR they tell me they will phone in the morning of the appointment to confirm and get directions, and phone about 5 minutes before the appointment time and say they are lost? as they didn't ring in the morning I had made other plans...

I would have thought they would have been biting my hand off for the work....

right another cuppa before we set off...

Hello Rummer - Hope wee one is fine & Dave's daughter's wee one's eye clears up. Grey driech here: fine rain that soaks you through to yer pants in no time. But it's soft, unlike the hail we had.

Lovely shiny trailer outside that we seem unable to get off it's tow hitch this morning, so OH is out there as it's a man's thing.....obviously. We will be able to buy cheap anthracite by the 1/2 ton from the coal merchants for the Rayburn - when we have it fired up.

CTC - The Double glazing window folks are like plumbers as elusive as hen's teeth. Is there anyone local who makes them. We went to a firm that made them & saved a fortune & they were so professional - they went bust! But i was most impressed & really glad we got our wondows before they did.

See if anyone will recommend. Will you be restricted in them? Is your house in a listed/conservation area?

Double glazing firms should be local, though in our case that's exactly 23 miles away.

Don't bother with Everest, Anglian or any of the other sharks out there whose prices are instantly variable. They have to pay for all that expensive advertising, but you don't need to! :p

Go with someone who'll give a straight quote and stick to it. We got 3 local quotes, no probs, but one was £2k higher than the other two!

  • It was Anglican that didn't ring me in the morning to confirm, and the others are local, and were recommended...

Choille, no not listed or conservation area..

well all 3 piggies sold. we have put our other sow into the run with other sow and boar, there is a bit of a pecking order, so I have just come home, to pick up some bits, get some food, and we are up the ranch tonight..

as we haven't been there for a few weeks... the bedding has gone really damp, so will have to take some fresh blankets up there, and bring the other ones back to air in the house..

    Hi all :)

Has been a lovely day here so we took a *winter picnic* and drove to Ironbridge for a look around! Hopefully the good weather will continue over the weekend so we can get more clearing done in the garden and DH is off to his first carboot sale in this area to hunt for stock ;)

Fay - great pics of your garden - it looks lovely! Will try to get some pics of ours up over the weekend.

Dave - hope little Sam's eye will soon be better....and your panto sounds as though it will be a scream as usual ;)

Rummer - hi, pleased you guys are ok!

CTC - we had the same issue with window peeps not showing up, even though we had around £10k worth of work for them. One of the (local) firms only got back to us after our house had been sold, lol!

In the end we did go with a local joiner - ours were hardwood DG sashes (non listed house) - but all I would caution on is to ensure the company you choose are either FENSA registered or else the work is covered by your building regs.

We mistakenly assumed ours were covered by the building regs for the rest of our restoration works - in fact our former architect is still adamant they were - then when we came to sell (within twelve months of fitting) our buyer's lender & solicitor weren't happy and we had to take out non-standard (and thus more expensive) indemnity insurance :(

New kitchen order was finalised today and will be with us end of March/beginning of April.....exciting times :D Have just ordered a very quirky, but ridiculously expensive (don't even ask, just suffice to say it makes our previous Barber Wilson look cheap!) tap and need to source hob, granite, plumber, sparky etc ;)
