or is there a specialist nursery to get certain colours etc??
at the moment I am mooching at different plants/flowers lol
I am looking for flowers for cutting that are different to what you would get in a bunch of flowers from the supermarket..Work to live= not live to work0 -
CTC they're also known as Peruvian lily so might be worth searching for that too. I have a lovely one on my front garden and I would love to propagate it, must look up how. I would also like some different ones too. Crocus have some and sell theirs as bare roots but I've got no idea if that's a good way to buy them or if they would be good quality, sorry. But they look lovely as cut flowers.
I've just found this place too CTC I don't know if you can visit this nursery but Shropshire is not that far from certain parts of Wales is it? I might visit if they're open and not just online http://www.postalplants.co.uk/catalogue.asp0 -
... the seeds im sending can all be cut [when growd up] they are from expensive originals but pot luck so if you just scatter/cover/wait in a corner it will give you a chance to see which thrives and which doesnt without wasting money..... be in the post asap.0

Erk! No! They might be OK, but you don't know what they are exactly

Yes!
...But Fay got there first (some of us have been outside working!) 'cos I would have said Viv Marsh, but he's the best and pricey as a result.
There's also:

Still quite expensive
Or there's Crocus, where you can just buy a couple and still have change from £20 after postage. They won't be very big though!

Well, this afternoon, in between mucking about on here, I've filed my Hippo Megabag with around a tonne of old plasterboard ceilings. That's the second one, but still way cheaper than a skip.
Also had about my 10th bonfire this year...sadly, none of them on Choille Day though!
Builder is onto door linings now, so he'll be hanging some of those this week, which will be nice, though we'll have to work out a protection regime for when the plasterer arrives. More polytunnel plastic I expect, or just remove them altogether.
The plasterer has to come after the electricians, who should be finishing first fix at one end this week. Whether we can get him probably depends on the weather, as it's Mr Rod, who has fingers in many pies, but probably likes warm dry jobs in February!
We have to finish some rooms so we can move into them from the ones we've been using up to now, though I still think we could knock down our bedroom wall without too much hassle...after all we knocked the living room wall down a week ago and we're still using it.0 -
I've devised a cunning plan to keep the temperature in the conservatory under control when the sun comes out
As it has a suspended wooden floor, I was thinking about positive pressure ventilation by drawing in the cooler outside air. Looking at t'Bay there's loads of 'Grow Room Tent Ventilation' kits for cannabis growers with in-line fan and ducting.
Anyhow, I have an old C/H controller which I think has a 'call for cooling' contact. I plan to connect that to the fan motor, drill a 100mm hole in the floor for ducting and install the carbon filter on the input instead of the output. Handily a section of floor is already cut and screwed after the previous owner swapped the C/H piping.
Then whenever the temp get above 25C, the fan will start pushing cool, filtered air in without me having to be there to open fanlights etc. I'll report if and when it works...:think:0 -
I HAVE SPOKEN..LOL....... be careful you don't get a knock on the door ...
thanks for the links.. will have a mooch at them...Work to live= not live to work0 -

A long way down the line yet, but I'm thinking of something similar. The cool air is some distance away, though, so I'm not sure.....
On the subject of fans atop woodburners, I'm wondering if I could incorporate a small one to pull air through into the kitchen from the back of ours, once we've re-sited everything.
At present, the Aga is almost back to back with the woodburner, with just a bit of Eternit between the two, but the Aga's going (yes, I hear your groans, some of you, but it ain't economic! :rotfl:) and the new fire will be sited further back in a large opening. Something like a computer fan could do the air moving......quietly.0
