White out here & still carred beside the stove. Must brace myself & feed the sheeps.

A little listing to do later, but have some heavy gates/hurdles to shift. So just thinking of any excuse to delay doing it...........
  • BD I would choose a red of some shade if it was me, with maybe a smart black mantelpiece. You could go bright pillar box, or something not quite as startling.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Thanks Alexelisey, :D I was toying with maybe something like F&B Rectory Red
    http://www.farrow-ball.com/rectory-red/colours/farrow-ball/fcp-product/100217

But it isn't the lightest of rooms so I'm not sure if it can take it. I think I will get the walls painted then decide what to do with the fireplace.

Funnily enough choille have got a stove fan or two on my Amazon wish list. Helpful to know you have found yours effective...... I wasn't able to chose between the various models so ended up not getting any :o
It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

Spent the morning having 15 minute stints in the garden. Had to keep coming in to get my hands warmed up. However, bird feeders have all been washed and replenished and the evidence of mice in my plastic garden store removed! Blinking things have obviously been trying to nest.

It is garden waste uplift on Monday so have been doing small tidying up plus cutting back hellebore leaves to allow the flowers to be seen. A tip I was given by the head gardener at Cambo Snowdrops a couple of years ago. I just hope the poor things don't freeze. Mind you I can now see more of my snowdrop clumps which is good. Evidence of blinking damage to them too near the bird feeders - I don't like wood pigeons!!

Off now to deliver a blanket (finished last night) to a new baby. Will need to make sure my hands are warmed up before I cuddle her!

BD - Not me with the stove fan. I did know someone who had one made from the top of a bulb that goes in one of those coal effect electric bars fire. A little metal - aluminium? thing that sat on the red bulb & would rotate with the warm rising air - did the same thing but free. Just moves the air.

Bitter but bright out now, but the wind is fairly getting up.
