'Man flu jab syndrome'....Hmmm... I think it could be more like experiential predisposition after it happening every year, but apparently it is a thing, for some of us anyway.
It stopped after a few days. Mrs Dave had hers last Saturday and felt fine, of course, even though it was an 'American one' according to the nurse.
No idea what sort mine was or why I had mine individually rather than in one of the 'herd' sessions that are still going on at the weekends. Maybe the folks at the Health Centre need a few real bodies through the door on weekdays as most of their business has shifted on-line since the advent of e-consult. Car park's half empty. It's almost impossible to see a real doctor face to face now, and getting to talk to one on the phone involves filling in a long internet questionnaire thing, which is exactly what the less privileged need if they're unused to computers and feeling crap! Still, I'm way ahead of most folk; I haven't seen my doctor in person since 2013, and I only remember that because he probed somewhere I'd have preferred him not to have gone....!4 -
Just before lock down mum's doctor wrote to her asking her to go for a review. Even with dementia she wasn't fooled and said they were checking if she was still alive. Still waiting for the review.
Plodding on with tidying up, built a new log shelter nearer the house. We've have fog here for three days, everything is very damp. Time to find indoor jobsLove living in a village in the country side4 -
I don't go for the flu jab - although supposed to. I reckon that not going anywhere & if going in a food shop I wear a mask & sanitise my hands all the time to the point that the flesh is peeling off them - I doubt I'm going to catch it (fingers crossed).
Got a manky tick bite that was festering away - hard to be able to get to see a doc these days - sending a photo of my leg was okay, glad it wasn't on me bum as that may have proved tricky.
Still nasty weather so not venturing about much at all - only doing the necessary stuff. Still got chip pile 11 to barrow around but will have to wait for my leg to heal first & the weather to improve - so that will be August I expect.4 -
I've not had the flu, or even a proper cold, since the pantos stopped. With all the hand sanitising, mask-wearing etc going on, the amount of it doing the rounds ought to be far less than usual. Hope you got the antibiotics or whatever for the tick bite Ted; nasty thing to have.
My temporary filling is still holding-on and there's just a week to go now before I get to see if I keep the tooth.
I would say our chip pile is about the size of small car. Those who wanted some seem to have had it, so it could become something of an embarrassment, or I'll need to do lots of mulching!Must admit, my batteries are quite flat now, but it's just the seasonal daylight thing kicking-in as it does every year. I'm so pleased we're out of the city, where there's more light, even if the duration's short and it's dull. I lit the wood burner yesterday as it's cheerful, but it's not cold outside so we're sweltering tonight, even though it's heating most of the bungalow. No frost forecast before New Year either. Primroses are out....4 -
It turned into cellulitis on my leg so that was nasty.
The chips are from the stone quarry - for infront of the house and around it. It'll get done one day.
Been lovely here today & been hauling woodbine off the trees.

Yes, thanks - It's on the mend. It's been nasty though. Quite bad with not being able to see a Dr easily.
Heavy showers today so not done much outdoors other than shift the feed troughs as the ground was getting poached and really slidey.
Seems we are all getting banged up again so off East tomorra for animal and two legged feed. Few bits to post off and get those odds and sods.5 -
Glad you're improving Ted. We're still in Tier 2 in Liverpool, though daughter in London says we'll be in Tier 4 soon. Who knows, we just came out of Tier 3. Case of sour grapes? I'm having probs keeping up with what the stuff is all round the country, though we only need to know about England (very variable) and Wales (not allowed) as we're unlikely to visit Scotland or Ireland for the foreseeable future!
We're so glad we made the decision to not go to caravan (in Wales) before the s**t hit the whatsit.
DD1 gave us a little live Christmas tree as an early prezzie. It came with all the lights and deccies to go on it. OH takes it from bedroom to cool kitchen overnight so hopefully it doesn't get too stressed. I love looking up from computer and seeing it in the daytime and evening. After Xmas we'll plant it into bigger pot and gently try to introduce it to the outside world. I hope it survives. Don't have photo as it's on OH's phone, but will take one if I ever get the time!
In other Xmas tree news I found a thing on Twitter on how to make a tree from re-cycled wood. So OH decided to have a go at it since we'd got some wood from old pallets in the shed and some other bits too. I think it's worked brilliantly, and we have it lit up in our front porch.
Sorry pic is so big, don't know how to make it smaller on this new version of the Forum. The good side is you get to see our deccies and the Christmas Gnomes better than you might have done otherwise!5 -
Very swish eco tree maggie, but wth spiders that big you'll need to do some dusting! On that theme, with no visitors for a while, we've done much less housework, so now it's a mad scramble to get all the windows done and the bogs cleaned etc.I've lost interest in the tiers and all that stuff. Kids say they'll get here whatever, but they'll have less time with us because others have been affected by the sudden changes. This is what happens when you run a country by calculated c 0 ck -up. People give up and/or rebel. They've known about this new strain for months. I see they waited till the MPs went home, then changed things, meaning there was no parliamentary scrutiny whatever. Weepy Hancock even had the gall to whinge about how he had to get up at 5 to write/approve the new statutory instrument. Well he can stick his instrument where the sun don't shine... Many farmers get up at 5am every morning!Sorry, but if I don't rant on here I'll have to rant at DW....In other news I'm off to the dentist again today, hopefully for the last time in a long while. Glad you're mending Ted.5

Ted, glad the cellulitis is clearing up.
Maggie that is an impressive bit of re-purposing. Lovely. Congratulations to OH.
I decided months ago not to travel to deepest darkest Deben this year, 5 hours on a stuffy train in a mask with various bods getting on and off didn't seem sensible. and at that stage our rate per 100k was eight times higher; it's now only 3 time but we've got the new variant somewhere close by.
Would have been gutted if I'd planned to travel today with presents and all the food was in Devon.
But I didn't have time to come home before dark and collect the secateurs to prune the vines needed to and make my window trees. And now it's raining heavily. Yuk.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing5
