Hope you're better Ted.
Our sheep have gone off to eat the outfield on the cricket pitch. If I stand on a chair I can just about see them through binoculars.
Quiet Christmas. Kids came, ate, drank, ate some more, drank the rest and then vanished. Now we're isolating till 7th January, apart from a quick visit to two other consenting adults a bit later in the week.I think we're in Tier 3 now, so we can still meet up if we stand in the garden facing the prevailing wind and avoid germ-spreading consonants, like 'K,' 'P' and 'B.' ....or something like that.Last NYE we had a bonfire on the top field and welcomed in 2020 with a toast to the rich neighbours whose fireworks we hoped to watch. They had one rocket.I think that pretty much set the tone for the year!

We've got lots of boomy fireworks going off already. Grrrr. No pretty lights off them, just big bang stuff. What's the bl00dy point? Presumably just to really annoy other people. All just noise, and it's late to just make noise. If you're going to do that, please at least have some pretty lights!4

Ah, well, we have a shooting range about 1/2 mile away and anyone who sets a gun off in the big valley finds it echoes very impressively, so loud bangs are pretty run of the mill here at certain times. The cats know the difference between guns and fireworks and they hide for the latter.Even on November 5th there isn't a lot of firework activity here, but over in Torrington they have a very spectacular bonfire every few years, though not on Bonfire Night:I had a look at the impressive Mayflower replica in November when out walking in the area. Seemed a shame to burn it!

Lovely day here although freezing cold. Managed to lose a glove, but re-tracing my steps later found it in the snow. Due to be warmer here tomorrow and next week.
Maybe Dave it was in the full spirit of old time sacrifice of the best objects?
Meantime Happy New Year to you all.

Happy New Year Daydreamers!
We've got sweet pea seedlings and broadie seedlings that we're taking in and out every day. In front porch overnight, and outside in the day. Unless we have hail, sleet and/or snow forecast, in which case we keep them in.
I need to get to ordering seeds for this new year... We've got loads of stuff from previous years, some of which I'm sure would still be viable. But don't know where the hell I stored them! So I think this weekend I'll be trying to put some orders in. Meanwhile OH should be planting the ornamental alliums into pots to at least start them off. Dunno where he put them, plus he's not keen on having to plant more stuff. He's more into making bread at present! Which he's pretty good at, though not much use for toast since the crusts are so hard and sharp when toasted I can't chew them!
Hugs to you all from Liverpool! xxx5 -
Thought we'd see a drone thing on the TV on Hogmanay but appears not so we watched a bit of Jools Holland and then someone up the Loch set off loads of fireworks - must be someone rich as there was quite a show. So we sat in the kitchen with the lights off watching that.
Today has been cold - well it is mid-winter so not unexpected. Spent most of the day assembling an old French bed I'd bought off ebay ages ago - still encased in bubble plastic - which always comes in handy. So that's the spare room up and ready after a shift around of stuff. Our bedroom is still undecorated and a right mess so will move to the spare room whilst we sort out that. That's what happens when you move into an unfinished house - still we were so glad to get out of the caravan......after 7 years the novelty wears off.
OH is talking about extending out from the bedroom to make an office/garden room but if it takes as long as we've been so far then I have serious reservations. So much to think on and the year has barely begun begum.
Happy 2021 to all dreamers and may this year be a cannie one for us all.4 -
Extension sounds exciting, Ted. Have your OH pencilled in for when we'd like to 'do' things to our house.
