Good news from HMRC. The 37 minute wait in the queue was worth it. Turns-out I earned way below the Tax threshold for the 14/15 Tax year, so will be getting all my tax back. On top of this, it seams I over-paid Tax on the 13/14 Tax year to, so have some to come back from that period as well. Result.

  • I'm back down to £100 temporarily as I've been playing around with my budget and used it to cover some bills. I work part-time and was getting my Tax Credits 4 weekly and it was difficult to budget with. My DD's were due all at once so I was left with virtually no money for 3 weeks. I'm hoping changing to weekly payments will make budgeting easier and I should have my Emergency Fund up to £300 within the next two weeks and put some money in the summer holiday childcare and summer holiday entertainment pots too. I'm hoping to have the Emergency Fund up to £500 by the end of May and then the summer pots filled by the end of July...

Managed to tip mine up to a nice healthy £271 this month and I'm intending to add £90 a month every month plus any leftover cash going forward. I'm working a shed tonne of overtime this month and I know that my take home pay for the end of May will show me a whopping £870 up on my usual take home pay, and that's only if I don't pick up any additional overtime later in the month or casually on a long work day.

Brilliant result, patman:T I hope it turns out to be a really big amount when you get it and that you won't have to wait too long before HMRC gets it to you.

Just shows that persistence pays:T. Lots of people would have become so discouraged by having to wait so long that they'd have hung up and never got anywhere with their claim.

Everyone seems to be doing so well :)
I've Just cleared out my E-Fund :( But paid off Dishwasher :j.

Will be concentrating on paying down my BarclayCard before the 0% runs out & have an expensive May coming up, so don't think I will be able to save until about July:eek:
But I will keep my signature, & will get back on it as soon as I can :)
   ***I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE YNAB***

  • So pleased for you patman. :j
You have been overdue some good news. Persistence certainly pays.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Great news Patman!! Hope its a lovely amount for you!!

EF now stands at £139.23 which is around what it was before I had before I had to use it all last month so feeling really positive about it.

I'm also going to start selling on ebay again. Haven't done it for a while but have a few bags of clothes which I'm gonna give it a shot at. I figure anything will be better than nothing!

And we're all happy for you as well, patman:T

Has Mrs P had any luck with her job applications?
  • It's been raining all day so have had to put the garden tidy-up on hold for now:( and instead have been rummaging through the spare bedroom/junk room:o to find more stuff to sell at a booked car boot sale on Monday morning. Determined that every single penny I make from selling stuff whenever and wherever this year will all go towards my EF.

There, I've said it now so I've got to do it;)
