  • Congratulations on your public-spiritedness, patman:T

Volunteers are the life-blood of this country. So much just wouldn't happen if it wasn't for the good hearts and hard work of so many people.

    Have a good week, all:beer:

Back down to zero in my E.F. I originally wanted to grow my E.F so I could save for something that costs around £4,000. As it happens, I've just been able to set up a 24 month payment plan for the very thing I was saving for, at no extra cost to myself.

Basically then, I will still try to grow an emergency fund, but it will be low pressure for me, since I will be paying direct debits each month directly for the thing I'm saving for and it will be paid for in two years time.

The upside is that it is affordable and that i will still have money to spare for growing my emergency fund (though I won't aim so high, obviously)

    Apologies for being cryptic.

  • Sounds intriguing, Hoipolloi;)

Seems like a good plan and I hope all goes well with it for you:T

Two good things have happened today. Managed to save £10 out of my monthly fuel allowance so straight to the EF and an unexpected payment of £150 (this is very unusual and a one off). This has also gone to the EF. Therefore the balance now stands at £373.09

Can't remember the last time I had this much saved. So happy :)

Muser1, you're not the only one in negative with your ef. My phone packed-up today and I rely on it to manage my day as I suffer from memory issues (I have a tendency to forget appointments).

I also have 2 parents with various disabilities, so need to be contactable.
So out with the cc and a few quid later (ok, £399), am now back up and contactable again.
    Never Knowingly Understood.

#97 finally starting of my ef with £20. there will be more to go in soon once all my recent payments have cleared as I always round up on my budget sheet so the pennies are spare money and with moving house there have been a fair few (needed) purchases made on the card.

I do the same Eveie189 - I like the fact I am paying my expenses and building up a little cash balance. ;)

Yeah! Debt free and now getting on with building my Emergency Fund.
My goal is to save £1,200 which is my direct debt expenses for six months. :)

Put £200 into my EF today and look forward to getting to this first goal really quickly. :)

I want to then move on to save my fully funded Emergency Fund of £6k.
