#288 checking in with my July report - earlier than normal but I have no more pay-days between now and 1st August so I'm a bit more on the ball this month :D

    July stats:
Paid to debts - £393 (well over my target of £250!!)
    EF currently at £42.27

It was a lot higher but I'm still happy as it's gone up a little from June, plus we had a bit of an 'emergency' when my fish tank filter decided to completely give up the ghost and it's cost just over £50 to replace it (including with spare parts for the new one). Got to look after my geriatric goldfish - one of them is 14 years old, the other two are 12!

I've also put £25 into savings for various things.....I have set up 'pots' for birthday, holidays, car and the kids uniforms/school expenses (which will be emptied of whatever I have managed to squirrel away in about 4 weeks lol). I have 9 more weeks until we're officially onto baby-step 3 and we're 90% debt free..........this morning I have paid off £200 of debts for only £110 so that's a definite victory too!
Changing my Family's Future!! - Starting again!!!!
    Current Progress -
    Debt - Start date 31/8/22 = £7,252.78
    Savings 31/8/22 - £0
    plus £1000 EF - £0/£1000 = 0%

    Hello everyone

No 109 sticking my head above the parapet. I joined a long time ago but we t missing due to life.

Can I try again please. I currently have a whopping £40/1000. I want to get to £1000 asap so I can see off the debt with something behind me.

Last month was dreadful. I had booked the roofer to repair the bay roof which had been leaking for a long time. In the same week the sink unit was on the brink of collapsing so had to be replaced. Then a few days later the fridge and washer packed up within a day of each other. This taught me a big lesson about emergency funds.

To be honest after being off work for 8 months after the cancer diagnosis should have prompted me then but sick pay, SSP and non-pay didn't allow me to save. In fact the debt increased dramatically. Boo hiss. I gunning to get this sorted so much.

    Hello Patman99

I already have a number 177 and I would like to come back please. In all honesty I've never had £1,000 in a separate account just for emergencies. Dave. R. says it is the most important step. I have just rejigged my pots and transferred £250 into the account. I have set up a S?O for £50 a month but will add any unexpected windfalls too.

Thanks for keeping this thread going so I can sneak back in :)

Help2save is becoming my 'Emergency Fund'
I'll decide during Spring 2020 if 1K can be saved over considerable time, though that depends if I miraculously avoid credit card 'permanent debt' rules!

    Hello everyone!

I'm just popping in to say that I've had a bit of a diversion on the EF: my genuine EF is at £500 and although I have saved £500 this month I have put it into high interest regular savers to offset against my remaining debt instead of putting it into premium bonds in my 'official' EF.

I'm doing this as I might as well get the interest on the regular savers but anything I can save above and beyond the maximums for the regular savers I will put in the official EF.

I hope you are all well. :)
