    Merry Christmas to you all.

EF is down £260 due to purchase of replacement dehumidifier.

It is a necessary item though as it keeps the humidity below 60% so mold spores won't grow.

I'm using a different saving method to save money in my emergency fund at an affordable rate.

I found a challenge where you deposit £1.00 on the monday through to £7 on the sunday.

Ive deposited £22.00 for this week but i skipped Wednesday and Thursday . If I have any left over money from when i get paid , I'll deposit the rest into my emergency fund.

So that's 2% of my emergency fund done

That's a good way to do it Adventureofmemories. As my current role is monthly paid for now, I will be sticking to my monthly round down.

I think a dehumidifier is something we could really do with. Single brick walls (so no cavity wall insulation) and it's a big house to keep even bearably warm at the best of times:(. Condensation is a major problem. Mould is a constant problem too and not only does it look unsightly but it's injurious to health especially as OH is a bit asthmatic.

We had a second-hand dehumidifier years ago but the water-collecting canister was far too small and I was forever having to empty it. Also, OH has superhuman hearing and the constant noise of the machine working away drove him mad. I could only use it when he was out of the house so that defeated the object really;). I expect modern ones are far more efficient,

Do you know of a quiet one?

Wishing you and all your followers a very Happy Christmas and everything they hope for in 2018:beer:

The Ebac Powerdri is nice and quiet. However, the one I took delivery of on Friday is faulty. More water misses the water collector than goes in to it.

As for your single wall construction. It should be possible to add a skin of insulation to the outside walls. The costs are a lot though.
