Happy New Year to all :)

My EF was wiped out by car repairs following MOT in December - but this is a good thing! Before embarking on our DMP we would have chucked any car repairs on a credit card; the fact that we actually had the funds to pay for it and not stress about it was simply amazing :)

EF now has £100 back into thanks to a surprise Christmas work bonus DH received. Onwards and upwards :j

Just transfer some of my emergency fund to my ISA, leaving an EF balance of £500. Will start saving to get my fund back to the £1000 mark. I seem to save more by doing it this way.

    Happy saving in 2016 everybody.xx

  • Right, I have 0 in the emergency fund.

Decided to move the remaining 300 pounds out, 200 to ISA and 100 to my "buffer in case I go over drawn" savings account

my car insurance was 650 and over spent on Christmas and not budgeted for spending by 350. the 300 was left after paying out for the credit bill and my share of presents for the family. that means Christmas cost me 650 pounds. Which is a bit nuts tho partly it all happened this way cos I broke my ankle and couldn't go out. In my view online shopping wasn't cheaper for me, plus shopping was delivered.

so need a new plan to get the emergency fund back up.

400 a month for 5 months to get to my 2000 pounds target. bit gutted.

if I am to leave my job in July I will need this money. If I don't have it by May I can't give notice. So at least there is motivation.
    Nevertheless she persisted.
  • Can I join, please? I had a decent emergency fund, but bought a house in 2014 and did a lot of work to it in 2015. Determined to get it back up to at least £1000 as soon as possible and NOT touch it again for house purposes.

    Currently at £377.22/£1000.

    Happy New Year everyone!

I've had a good couple of months savings-wise and now have £400 in my EF. The challenge now is to keep it there and build on it - I MUST NOT dip into it for non-emergencies!
