Hi folks - sorry I've not been around for ages ... I've done my usual trick of avoiding MSE and burying my head as I've been over-spending again
(I really should learn the lesson!)
I did manage to get my EF up to just over £1,000 (total for the house & pets combined but not £1k each which is the aim) but sadly have had a plumbing 'issue'' which has set me back £200 today and will be about another £200 to sort
Anyway, will battle on until the end of the year and then, 2016 will see the return of the frugal me!
Also, not going to be helped by the fact that I will be back in my own job (I've been on a temp internal transfer) by then which is about £100 / month less .....
Well done to everyone who has made it to £1000 and, to everyone working there way there - keep plodding ..... to those who've needed to use it, yes, it's disheartening to see the money disappear (I nearly cried when I had to take the £200 out my bank yesterday) - but at least it's been there when neededGrocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Rising, this is exactly what the fund is for. Imagine if you had not had £1,000 saved. How would you have funded the plumber?.
Anyway, my spouse informed me that her dad wanted me to go and look at a leaking drain-off valve as he couldn't find a plumber to do ti before Christmas and it was filling up a bowl every day. Whilst out shopping last night I popped into Screwfix and purchased a radiator & drain-off valve key only to get home and find a message on the phone stating he had managed to fix it himself.
The key cost me £5 but will come in handy for when I decide to tackle my bathroom refit next year (hopefully the 'DIY Foundation course in plumbing' will cover the installation of a bath. If not, then I'll have to treat it like a giant sink.Never Knowingly Understood.

Hi nellis10
I constantly round down my accounts daily. If I have an odd 28p or even £1.08 for example I move this amount into my EF. I keep my account at round figures. I have an online savings account that I keep it in.
Its amazing how quicly it builds up,
Good luck with yours.SP 9#531=£620/SP 10 # 531=?PDBX 2016 #2 = £16,766.67/£12,000
