Payday tomorrow- looking forward to putting some into my savings pots and seeing if I can reach my earning extra targets. Doing an extra shift today wont get paid for it until Decembers pay, but it all adds up!

I took my car for a free winter check today. It's a local main dealer who has state of the art servicing facilities but complain that the cars that they sell are so reliable that apart from regular servicing they aren't getting much work:eek:. They keep offering all sorts of free checks for stuff just to drum up potential customers for their repair and servicing facilities of cars that they haven't sold themselves.

OH had a free check and service of his air-con last week and was very impressed. My old car doesn't have air-con (unless you count a blower and open window;)) but I was up for the free winter check. They were really thorough, checked things like brake pads and all sorts, spent ages underneath checking goodness knows what. Topped up anti-freeze and would have done screen wash too but OH keeps that topped up so it didn't need it. Also gave me a de-icer spray and scraper:T

Best of all they said everything was in remarkably good order for the car's age:j and that really was music to my ears after the expenses I had with it this past year. If I'm not having to fork out much for car repairs I can press on with getting my EF topped up:j. I've still got a non-working washing machine to worry about:(
  • Managed £10 today. I am trying to get enough over my target to pay for my car insurance outright, at the end Feb.

I've added £75 today - not sure how long it will stay there given the car is off the road awaiting repairs and Christmas this month. I aim to not touch the emergency fund - let's see if I can succeed ;)

Payday here as well. Looking at my hours sheet, I actually managed to get 12 hours overtime in despite having 2 short days due to being 15 minutes late on one and having to take 2.5 hours out for a job interview on another.

I'm currently at £435.53 in my emergency fund pot. A little less than this time last month, but not drastically so!! Thankfully all Christmas spending should now be done, so no more excuses!!

  • Wishing you all a successful money-saving December:beer:

Just remembered that my car tax runs out on New Year's Eve:(. So that means another month with nothing added to my EF:o. At least I won't be depleting it this time so it's not all bad:T

Next year I'm going to bust a gut to put more in there;)

    Hi Guys,

Apologies for not posting in a while, but I have good news!

I now have my £1000 in my separate bank account!...OK not completely £1000 but £999.70 because I messed up my numbers and turned a 62p into a 92p and thus missed 30p when transferring money across. :wall:

I don't think they will let me do a 30p transfer, so it's sitting there all forlorn and not the full amount until I find a way of making it a lovely round figure! :o
