Get a doorbell, rig it so it gives the kids an electric shockWeAreGhosts wrote: »this used to happen to a neighbour of mine across the street. best thing she ever did was fill a bucket of water and sit and wait for them upstairs. just as they were about to knock on the door she opened the upstairs window and drenched them.
they had to make up some excuse when they went home as to why they were soaking wet
Both classed as assault I'm afraid
I find it rather cute that kids still do this, TBH we did it as kids in the block flats every evening stupidly, until the one day the guy on the top floor was waiting for us outside the lift :rotfl:(BTW we called it knock door run, or thunder & lightining)
My cheap suggestion is0 -
We have cctv so never had an issue, it also keeps away the door step con men0

we got our revenge on the 'Slap Woman'. we posted dog poo through her letterbox when she went to work. on a nice hot summer day............
'chap-door-run' (since we're gathering regional variants on the name) is generally harmless, albeit annoying, behaviour
Posting dog poo through someone's letterbox is not "harmless" behaviour.0 -
We used to call it 'knock knock ginger' sometimes on this one house we would tie fishing line to the knocker and hide in the bush at the end of the garden. I wouldn't be annoyed if kids did it on my door, i used to do it so i wont be annoyed about it.0

Chickenelly up here and I'd just ignore them. They'll get bored if there's no reaction.0

Someone did this to our door... my mum's husband's friend answered the door and it blinded him in one eye.....Feb NSD's 2/10 under my belt.

I was having trouble with some local kids at my last place. They took to ringing my doorbell at all hours of the day and night. Sadly they didn't "get bored of it". I'm a single mum whose son was 2 years old at the time. I couldn't just sit there and do nothing to protect myself & child so I called 101 and reported them to the police. I found it really scary and intimidating behaviour, the kids were bored and had nothing better to do in the evening so decided to make our lives a misery. They shouldn't be allowed to believe that this type of behaviour is acceptable. It's not a game, there are real consequences for those on the receiving end of their pranks. It turned out that it was a gang of kids who were well known to the police for causing trouble in the neighbourhood. After a quiet word with them, thankfully I never had any further trouble.SPC7 ~ Member#390 ~ £432.45 declared :j

The little girl who lives downstairs used to do it occasionally but only until I once hid behind the door and as soon as I saw her reach for the bell I yanked the door back and let out a loud raaaahh! Scarred the crap out of her and she didn't do it again:hello: Hiya, I'm single mom, avid moneysaver and freecycler, sometimes  but definatly0
