TPO's are idiots, regarding allowances- own data allowances are not permitted to tether, thus mean ban or whatever else...
    (same goes about iD Mobile)

    Alternatives:
EE still does £10 PCM 100GB allowance until Christmas( http://shop.ee.co.uk/campaigns/christmas-sim-from-ee? )

Last time I spoke to lifemobile.co.uk their £15 (with 6GB data) allowed tethering

tello.co.uk are very reasonable for a light user cost ways (uses "3" network)

ukglobetel.com (uses EE)is best value plan for £15PCM you get everything unlimited(7GB data), but as it comes to tethering- unsure to be honest, as they said on iPhone its OK, but not on other devices... also, untested, cant vouch for CS

I do not recommend neither Vectone or Delight due to atrocious record in business practices and tested- CS,

nor GiffGaff (uses O2) data speeds are diabolically slow on 3G

nor I recommend "3" as only most expensive plans allow tethering, but I had massive beef with them, due to their cooperation with scammers

anw all of my ventures here:

Just to correct that error, Three allow tethering on all contract plans, even the cheapest.

They do not allow tethering on any PAYG handset plan, not even the expensive ones.

I've now had my account suspended without explanation
This looks like a very clear explanation...

"Your daily data usage throughout October has been very unusual, which indicates you’re in breach of our Terms and Conditions and our Fair Usage Policy. As a result, your data service will remain suspended until the end of November.

You'll still be able to call and text within your current bundle allowance, however we'll fully suspend your account from the 30th of November. Since our product doesn't seem to fit your needs, we will waive November's line rental.

If you have made any out of bundle calls/texts in November you'll receive a final last invoice mid-December and your final bill payment will be taken at the end of December.

If you'd like to keep your number, please give us a call on 500 and we'll issue you your PAC code which you'll need to use prior to the 30th November before your account is fully suspended.

    Sorry it didn't work out,"

    The WHY seems very clear.

Which part of it didn't you understand?

    Is this legal?
Businesses can choose who they sell their services to, and who they don't.

What i can't understand don't isp's flag up a warning before they suspend you?

Or do they just suspend you and then tell you in a letter or something.

as long as they comply with the contract they can give you notice and terminate your account, they don't need to give a warning first unless the contract actually stipulates it as a requirement.

    Hi all,

This is my first post so hoping you can help. Am going back to uni in sept to start my PhD after years in employment. Although I have been lucky enough to get funding - ill be living off £14k - I am going to need to be careful with my money. As such my contract is up in Sept and I am looking to change to a Sim Only deal. I currently pay a whopping £50pm inc insurance.. I know it is simple to reduce this. I will be doing an annual insurance fee with the chaps martin recommends (about £60pa) and moving contract. I have found a great deal with The People's Operator but have never heard of them. They offer unlimited text and mins + 4gb data (i am generally a highish user) for £11.99pm. + 10% of my bill goes to the charity of my choice (the Trussell Trust). Am keen to go with them but have never heard of them so unsure. They operate off EE (my current provider) 3g network so should be ok wit that.

Anyone had any experience of these guys?

    Thanks

Before you decide to move to TPO have a look at the link below because they are updating their tariffs soon and you may not get what you see.

I was a giffgaff customer, and in October or so I swapped over to TPO and so did my housemate. We were both on the unlimited calls, unlimited text, 6GB data bundle for 14.99.

On the 1st of December my housemate gets an email telling her that her plan is being changed to a new plan because the old 14.99 plan "no longer exists". The new plan is 300 minutes, 1000 texts and 1GB. The email says "you do no need to respond to this email, you will be automatically transferred over". I don't get this email.

On the 10th of December another emsil arrives. Good news! TPO out of bundle pricing has been reduced. Bad news... Hidden in this email is this notification and I quote:

"At TPO we are always looking for ways to improve your experience. Our customers have requested the ability to use more minutes, texts and data once they have reached their plan limit.

So, from the 10th December 2015 we'll no longer automatically suspend your plan once you reach your plan limits. This gives you the ability to continue making calls, sending texts or using data if you need."

My housemate was none the wiser and went over her 1GB.. in fact she used 2GB. TPO kindly sent her a casual email letting her know that "since she has gone £100 over her plan she has been capped". She is utterly devastated. Meanwhile I am still on my original package (6GB), and the website is advertising 3GB for 14.99. How is this ethical or legal? It''s horrific. TPO are taking advantage of vulnerable people.. It's utterly despicable. What can we do? (Apart from moving back to giffgaff asap..)
