Feedback on The People's Operator (TPO)

Hi,

Looking at a new monthly contract, using the EE network, and TPO seems to have some good options, on pay monthly (and only 30-day contract, as opposed to 12 months).

There is very little feedback or reviews on that operator. Some people have complained about CS taking 20 min to answer calls, but that's a major improvement compared to T-mobile!

Any views?
Thanks,
S.

I had to call them a few times to get my number ported. My calls were answered within five minutes max, but because they had a lot of callers, their system kept putting me through to Sales rather than Customer Services, and Sales obviously can't deal with porting. But they did offer to get Customer Services to call me back. It was all sorted fairly swiftly, so I have no complaints. Their online account system is very basic but it does the job.

Hi, I'm just after some general reviews and experiences from anyone who uses them.

I'm currently with Tesco paying £10 per month but keep using up my 2GB data before the month is out costing me about £15+ and saw TPO do a 3GB deal for £12 but have no experience of them.

    Thanks

I tried them out for a few months at the end of last year and had no major problems. I would have stayed with them, but I simply wasn't using my phone enough to justify the cost.

The wait times when calling them weren't great, but that can be an issue even with the big networks and they offer a livechat service which you can use instead. Their online account system isn't as fancy as other networks', but all the information you could want is there. I found billing a little confusing because I signed up to a £4.99 for three months deal but they charged me full price in the second month - they tried to explain why, but I couldn't make sense of it. It was a minor issue.

They use EE's network, so just make sure that EE provides good coverage in your area and, if you do join them, use TopCashBack as they have some good cashback offers.

Search the board for TPO and you'll find some feedback. Not much though.

Don't forget to get your phone unlocked while you still are with O2.

Just started with them and I am concerned that my sim only £11.99 deal isn't what it seems in that my uncharged bill is now over £18 and when you talk to them online which takes forever they say it should revert to zero as I am a new client and it's not sorted yet.if I get lumbered with a big bill I will be straight out of there as I don't really trust them yet.gAs anyone had similar with tpo?

Don't know about TPO, but generally the first bill is often bigger because it covers more than one month.

have you heard about Co-operative Mobile, they also invest in charitable and community projects and at the moment using COOP10 you get 10% extra credit, I have been using since Feb and I am saving, also good customer service in the UK and cheap international calls. They use EE so signal is pretty good where I live.
    I hope it helps!
  • Hi all,

This is my first post so hoping you can help. Am going back to uni in sept to start my PhD after years in employment. Although I have been lucky enough to get funding - ill be living off £14k - I am going to need to be careful with my money. As such my contract is up in Sept and I am looking to change to a Sim Only deal. I currently pay a whopping £50pm inc insurance.. I know it is simple to reduce this. I will be doing an annual insurance fee with the chaps martin recommends (about £60pa) and moving contract. I have found a great deal with The People's Operator but have never heard of them. They offer unlimited text and mins + 4gb data (i am generally a highish user) for £11.99pm. + 10% of my bill goes to the charity of my choice (the Trussell Trust). Am keen to go with them but have never heard of them so unsure. They operate off EE (my current provider) 3g network so should be ok wit that.

Anyone had any experience of these guys?

    Thanks
