I remember when telly stopped at about midnight, and you got the little white dot and the piercing noise to remind you to switch the tv off

I dont really know why but we seem to have the television on often in the evening......but no sound as we both go about our business of reading or macBook stuff Actually I don"t know how to turn the television on so if David isn't in it doesn't go on.0

nearly every evening is TV free for me. I spend it in front of computer. OH spends his time in front of TV. works for us.0

Watch so little TV we got rid of Sky - missed it at first but now after over a year don't miss it at all0

Having the news on during breakfast is just logical. Not that awful Daybreak creation though - hideous television and such a waste of a good newsreader.
I work stupidly anti-social hours so my evening meal is eaten in an office usually so I can't say I do watch television every night, but I can't imagine being happy as someone who would do it every single night.
In fact I can't remember the last time I watched a drama live. Having Sky+ to record it and then schedule it for when I am ready for it really is perfect.0 -
I watch Dr Who as it is broadcast. I schedule Saturday evening tea so it is prepared just in time and I can begin eating it, on the sofa, as the programme starts.Homeownertobe wrote: »In fact I can't remember the last time I watched a drama live. The start of the Strictly season has mucked that up a bit by pushing Dr Who back an hour or so, meaning I'm rather hungry by the time it comes on!
As may be determined by the above, I have no concerns about eating tea on the sofa in front of the telly.Proud member of the wokerati, though I don't eat tofu.Home is where my books are.Solar PV 5.2kWp system, SE facing, >1% shading, installed March 2019.Mortgage free July 20230 -
When we watch TV we generally WATCH it, I hate having it on and channel surfing for the sake of it, I'd rather put it on a radio channel if I do want background noise.
Like above we tend to record things and watch them when it's convenient for us, not shape our lives around the schedules, you don't need to do that in this day in age.0 -
When I get home from work I immediately spend approx 1 hour watching TV before I do anything (this isnt every night as some nights I have things to do after work but say 2 or max of 3 nights.
I like to watch absolute utter trash! Geordie Shore, MIC, TOWIE, the real housewives - you get my drift.
The reason for me is that I am a Social Worker and, after a day at work I like to watch totally escapist TV.
However, I dont watch TV all night and relish time spent with my OH once I have 'decompressed'. Saying that tonight he is watching footie - I dont mind, we share the remote so all is good.0 -
The TV is usually on in the evenings and it's mostly something DH wants to watch.
But if I'm in the house on my own (which is rare), I don't usually have the TV on, unless there's something on the planner I've recorded and feel like watching. I will usually have the radio or music on instead or just dead quiet.Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £10,153.440
