    All,

I checked the door panel and these are the entries that has similar to my old car tyre measurement.

    225/50 R17 94 h M+S , 225/50 R17 94W .

    Thanks.

So 225/50 R17 is one of the sizes for mud and snow/winter tyres

the info you posted above says the tyre should have a load rating of 94 which i am sure your contis from last year will have and it says a speed rating of H or up to 130MPH and the tyres that you have are V rated which is up to 149MPH

your old tyres are fine for your car so just need to find a second hand set of rims and get them mounted and balanced

How to find out tyre size for different season. From above how did you know that these sizes are for winter tyres?

you said on the label on the drivers door pillar it says " 225/50 R17 94 h M+S"

the M+S is mud and snow and that is what BMW put as their winter tyre size, also the H speed rating of 130 mph is the standard BMW winter speed rating, winter tyres have a lower speed rating than a summer tyre so the H rating points to winters

Have a look at the side wall of you winter tyres and chances are it will have M+S plus a snowflake in a mountain

you said the winter tyres that you have are 225/50 R17 V rated so they are fine as V is rated for a higher speed than H

    What makes you say that?

    here is post fourteen
No good for your new car if you got a spare set of alloys?

    where you gave incorrect information

With a set of 17 inch alloys they are a perfect match for the OP,s car and 225.50/17,s are the recommended size for winter tyres for their car

its a good job they sought further advice rather than listening to your incorrect information

Are you reading the same thread?

I didn't give any incorrect information.

The OP is getting some new alloys and the old tyres fit them.

Do you have trouble with English?

No I do not have a problem with English but it appears that you do

when you say "No good for your new car if you got a spare set of alloys", you actually meant that they will be ok for your car

I think you should look at your own posts before you start questioning other people's grasp of the english language
