  • <hugs> miss MP and MIL :( sorry that you are all going through this. Wishing your MIL all the best for whichever treatment she/they decide on.

hello to newbies and returners - I'm a recent returner too!

as for us, have had a bit of a manic morning - managed to get an emergency dentist appt this morning straight after school run. DH had let me sleep in a bit as I had been awake in the night with pain, which was kind, but sets me back so much! Anyway managed to get the first wash on and breakfast cleared up before we left. Decluttered £25 at the dentist for a temporary filling and to go back next week when it has settled down a bit for another filling/dig around  :(

Then went on to meet the pre-school learning alliance lady at the baby group I help to run, then on to the allotment where I have dug up the last of the poor neglected spuds which will probably not be great to eat now. I have spud overload at the mo because I bought quite a few on the weekend for the meals I was planning! Any freezing ideas??? I'll try and hold onto the maincrop ones for a week or so, but the charlottes, if edible, will need to be eaten asap. Also tons of runner beans still - I'm picking them often and smallish so they're not stringy - any ideas for these?

Had a mini blitz in the kitchen on my return as toddler having an ill-timed nap in the buggy have eaten her own body weight in raspberries at the allotment. Again :rotfl: Managed to find probably most of the library books so we will head there after school run. potatoes in the slow cooker to have with left over pork and cheesy leeks when we come home.

Off to school - see you later :D

Mamaninie, else-thread, there's a discussion about freezing spuds, and when I trawled it the best I could glean from it was:

    1. If freezing mash, add some milk powder so that it doesn't go watery when you defrost it (I've tried it, and it works)
    2. You can freeze part-cooked roasties by parboiling them and tossing them in your chosen fat. There was some argument about which fat (or even whether to use fat prefreezing) and I haven't been so awash with spuds I've tried it, but I'd go for a mix of melted butter and oil.

Kitchen floor swabbed, top layer dy$oned.
    Better is good enough.

mamaninie I found Charlotte kept pretty well, so may be worth trying that.

  • Thank you for lists. Missing DD1 very much, went to Euston with her as she would have been a prime muggets target. Took DS too as not 5 til bonfire night. Did all the free stuff, British Library, British Museum, Natural history museum, Russell Square gardens, pigeon and fountains and looked at architecture of St Pancras station while swigging my painkillers from a Mr T carrier. DS stayed awake until we got in at 9 then fell asleep after food right round til 7.30......best sleep he ever had.

Two dump runs done today. Mt foldmore ascended and considerably reduced in size. Put all bigger size uniforms in storage boxes for DS so everything in one place according to size.

Got right face ache today. .bending down makes it really hurt......off to horsepiddle tomorrow for the first of many post operative checkups. Thanks all for GWS wishes.v much appreciated.

Time to have a quick nap and let pain dull for a bit.....
The cold never bothered me anyway

Stuff done here. I went off list in the end as the vac was upstairs and its heavy :p so I've dusted and vacced all upstairs. Brought it back down so can tackle downstairs floors tomorrow.

Kids are fed, DD is in her rather cute fluffy onesie and complaining its cold. It does feel it afte yesterday's glorious sun. We've had a spot of rain just now and it's looking a bit dark already

Want to out some towels on to wash but not sure what weather we are due tomorrow, it had said a nice few days but today has been dull...

Hi all; didn't get to post at all last week, in fact didn't even get online for several days. I have just come off the week from hell.

Warning: this is going to be long and boring, so feel free to skip to the next post.

As you may know, the week before last, we had the kitchen refitted; and we got the last of the boxes of stuff unpacked and into the new cupboards on Friday 20th. All well and good, hey that went better than we'd hoped.

Then Coyote (the Trickster) caught up with us.
Saturday 21st, about 17:00, Mr LW says he's not "right" but doesn't elaborate. Fast-forward to about 22:00, he disappears to the loo, returns and says he's ringing the emergency medical number (I didn't know such a thing existed, thank goodness he did). Long story short - he's peeing blood. He talks to the medical bod, gets told to come to the walk-in place. Tells me he's fine, no need to go with him; but helps me into dressing gown before he leaves so that I can go to bed if I wish. 12:30 he says he's seen the Dr and has been told to go on up to the hospital. 01:30 Sunday morning he calls me again to tell me he's being admitted.

Thankfully Sunday he was able to get hold of his friend P (A wasn't answering his phone) and P collected me and took me to the hospital to get our car, which had been in the car park overnight. P also took me in to see Mr LW later on Sunday; and A took Monday pm off work to take me up there then; but after that, I was on my own.

I managed to work out a way to lump the wheelchair in and out of the car myself (banjaxed my wrists, but that's a minor problem all things considered) so Tuesday, having by then just about memorised the route to the hospital, I managed to get myself there, lump the chair out and self-propel to the ward. Same again Wednesday.

By this time my hands and back are agony, I'm swigging Oramorph like fruit juice, and running out of clean kaftans (the only garments I can put on unaided). Oh, and I've lost 4lb in weight as I'm not eating.

On my way home Wednesday, I get a text message. Obviously, not going to look at it whilst driving (in any case, it could be a spam message about PPI lol). Hooray - it's Mr LW saying they're letting him home!!

So, 19:00 Wednesday, off I go again, this time to collect him and bring him home. He's got a raft of drugs to take; as well as his usual hypertension meds, he now has 2 different meds for his prostate, and a course of anti-flybotics.

Anyways, he saw the GP (same "baby doctor" he saw before, as it turned out) and was signed off for the rest of last week - for reasons I won't go into here, he was still not well enough to return to work straight away.

He's gone back to work today, but has to attend hospital for a scan on (I believe) his kidneys, and later again for a rather more intrusive test where they poke a camera right where no man ever wants anything poked.

As you may gather, posting, and indeed Flying, very much took a back seat; I've been subsisting on black coffee and Oramorph, and of course worried out of my mind.

I'm afraid I haven't taken in what I've read of the Fred, other than the atrocious way Mrs MP's MIL learned of her impending treatment; so please forgive me if I just offer a big pile of sticks, spoons and (((HUGS))) and say "help yourselves as needed".

I'm now trying to get back to a bit of normality and sanity; we managed to get the weekend tasks done between us apart from vacuuming, which I've done today; I've also cut the back lawn, which was threatening to overshadow the 6' fence! We also had a little dog, Patch. here for 2 nights from Friday to Sunday; she was a real sweetie (her usual host was away this weekend and couldn't have her) and I think she helped a lot just by being here.

I hope to be able to do a it of Flying this week; my back and hands are still complaining big time, but I'm looking to just tell them to shut up and get on with it.

So there you are - just in case anyone missed me.
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)
