Oooh that's just teasing us. Give us facts, hard info so we know what's what in Broggerland!
But seriously well done. You have a settled destination and plan on how to get there.

Hi Brogden
I'd agree with a call for having just 1 credit referencing agency from recent bad experience.
In 2012 we almost lost out on a property because of a CCJ that had been wrongfully issued against my husband. At the time I was checking experian online every month as I was paying for membership. The circumstances were that someone had opened a Next catalogue account at an address we had lived at around 10 years ago. The name of my husband wasn't even right on the account. The debt was only for around £300 but as we didn't live there they obviously couldn't recover it and took him to the county court in absence.
We'd never have known until it showed up on call credit. Which sparked a frantic rush to get Next to speak to the court to withdraw it and fax a letter of proof to the estate agent. Hideous experience ce. If only there 1 one place to check things like this would never happen.
Glad to read all is well with the plans for next year.

Sorry the pension move is frustrating...I feel your pain and yup, Gubberment put a new rule in and some providers find a new way around it and in the process, end up fleecing Joe Public
Don't get me started on Experi@rse (they are known for failure to cancel and keep taking payments) and credit reports - I too agree with the need for one centralised and only use the free ones now.
It's a poor show really in this modern day and age when a) information is wrong and b) technology is as good as it is and c) if a lender really wants to know if someone can pay for something over a period of time, why an earth isn't a rounded picture captured (ie. savings, homeowner or not etc) Sorry, rant over:rotfl:
Good to hear on the work front and importantly, how you feel about it :T
Hope the next IFA has a better fee proposal. I've just turned down the last one I saw - as much as I really like him and his offering, it's out of my league cost wise. Until I'm rich (not) :rotfl: Frankly, I've given up - just going to add to my current one.Back on the DFW Wagon:
CC - £3,300 on 0% til 04/2020
CC - £4,500 on 0% til 02/2019

Thanks Bob and Ali
I think we are all in agreement that there should be only one credit reference agency. If I were in power, I would introduce legislation to this effect. Rather than to create a monopoly for the lucky bidder, I would buy the share capital of all three and merge them into one. I am sure the tax payer would not mind paying for this!! I know I am sometimes obtuse and provocative for fun but I am not being so here. Simply, it should be nationalised :T !!
If we consider the role of the Prudential Regulation Authority in supervising the banking industry and hopefully minimising banking failures........would banks be safer if they had less bad debt? Of course they would. SO.......sort it out government....it is all part of the same job. !! Why supervise a complete mess - organise a reliable register which helps the stability of the industry you have had to spend billions bailing out.
At the same time impose fines of £millions on banks which fail to keep people's credit files up to date. It is not good enough for HBoS / LBG to tell me that they may not be able to update my file because something has gone wrong and to fix it would be a manual job, expensive and probably go wrong again in the future. I have just received £100 in compensation by the way :T BUT......it still isn't good enough. Don't pay compensation......just get it right you idiots and if its gone wrong then get it fixed or face fines and sanctions  !!
I really could lose my patience :rotfl:!!!
Oh dear......I got quite carried away then!!
Ali.....I have read about your pension decision and I am sort of pleased. I know my dilemma with / without IFA's is a different type of problem but I think I may sort of sit on me 'ands and keep me bum where it is too!!
I may change my mind on this a thousand times yet but what's the rush? My plan will come together over the next month or so I think. I have seen the old impetuous me operating a bit recently and I think I need something putting in my tea!!
So what if a combination of pension freedoms, underfunded DB schemes and (most dangerous of all) public service workers in rebellion bring an end to DB transfers for everyone? Well if it happens it happens.......I will just count the benefits of the place I am in rather than try to beat it all by acting in a rush! This is the new Brogden speaking!!
All the best for hump day everybody!0 -

Good stuff on the compo :T , though like you would prefer they got these things right in the first place!
I have a bit of an issue of huge fines of these businesses, as they just past the cost onto the consumer anyway, in effect we end up paying twice
On the flip side of all our data is Big Brother Watching... I don't like that much either :rotfl:
Feeling happy about pushing more money into current pension...which has led to an interesting conversation with DS...we're talking about starting one for him. Just minimum into it and he can always transfer into a work one if it's the right thing to do. He'll get 55 years growth on that before statutory retirement I reckon at the rate this country is going :rotfl:
Keep getting carried away on your posts too - really good food for thoughtBack on the DFW Wagon:

Love reading your posts Brog;always glad to see you've updated.
Thanks Verb. I think I must be a bit of an acquired taste......a bit like Marmite, garlic, squidgy shellfish or drinking jugs full of raw eggs:eek: !!
Or....maybe my thread is a good place for masochists to visit.......if they are finding life a bit too nice possibly!!
I know what I write here is different than most of the diaries on MSE. Most people are talking about dropping the kids off at school and having Spam for tea tomorrow night. Whilst a couple of my managers have said (kindly) that I am the most extreme person they have ever met or 'a complete nutter' (could be a case for HR there ) I have lived quietly in a shy way for most of my years. Another reason why the diary is different is that I am in the sexual minority. Nobody told me this......I worked it out and like anything else in life it is far from completely true but...........:-
- A woman will do a thousand things and talk about a thousand things too......
- A man will do a thousand things but only talk about one of those things......or maybe two if we're lucky!!
The thing the man may talk about he may 'do to death' and leave everybody in the room asleep. 999 things will just not figure on his landscape. Some of those things which are not figuring will be very important to the lovely woman and there will be a row :rotfl:!!!! That's how life works.........:p !!
Well, here comes the update:-
Mortgage
Yes - interest only. Yes - need to do something about that. Yes - it's not good enough. BUT........good news......fixed rate has expired......my new payment is just £169 a month (down from £389 :T) .....great timing as I plan my cashflow for going self employed. I will elaborate on this in the future as friends.......this will shortly be the 'one out of a thousand things' which this man talks about
:rotfl:!!!! (Yawn!!!!:p )
Debts
Moral compass......the moral compass. Did somebody say 'the moral compass?' My oldest readers will know what I am going on about. That which we borrow we should pay back  .....of course.But......can we dilute this noble principle a little by doing a wheely- dealy? I mean a P&F.....an F&F if you want to follow the heard and get it wrong .
I have some way to go on debts. Of course, I have money on the way but I need a sizeable emergency fund for SE so I am doing a little with the ILD's (Irritating little debts.)
The two chosen are......
247 FunnyBox £424 owed.....P&F agreed £260
Squid.com. £790 owed...........P&F agreed £320 (this involved a formal complaint and referring these people back to promises made in 2014 - important to keep notes.)
These will be paid by the end of the year. Two less creditors. I have two others which I can class as 'ILD's' but little by little. I will then have to move onto the 'Ayers Rock' of the respectable credit card debts (again.)
Pension
Moral compass and debts aside.......this is the single biggest financial decision of my life. I say that without the slightest sarcasm and I am not being remotely 'tongue in cheek.' Whilst I said I was thinking of keeping my bum where it is, I have explored and researched and my intention is that I transfer :rotfl:!!!!
IFA's
The subject of IFA's has been on my mind all week. I have formally cut ties with the IFA with whom I initially consulted. I am now trying to arrange the work through another. As usual, communication is not easy.....not easy at all. I am coldly and unemotionally going through a process and will be pleased when the result is achieved and the bill paid.
Happy wekend all!!
