    Hi INOD

I have a bit of work to do in that department. I know one can 'morph' into self employment and whilst that wouldn't be the Brog style there are several weeks yet until the year end for me to get stuck in. At the moment I am obsessed with pensions, tax, NI and actual job training .

If this works for me a limited company would be on the cards but only a fool would start a company when they are totally inexperienced in the business so 'NI-efficient' dividend payments are not for now!:(

I am sorry to hear of your work grief :(. I know you say you will not be defined by your mistakes but just as importantly, do not be defined by your job. Remember we are all children of the universe. We are only there for one thing. It is in no way disrespectful to our employers to be 'at arms length' and hopefully not emotionally involved. I know that is more difficult for girls :(

Speaking of 'being defined by one's job,' I have on a few occasions during this limbo-land period pondered on the question...'if I'm not that any more what exactly am I?' However, these spells have passed relatively quickly as I remember again that I am a child of the universe........and I am employed by the moon and the stars. Stop singing that corporate anthem...put that logo in the bin.......yes......part hippy, part punk ;) I know I know I know !!

Training this week - I hope I like it  !!

  • I know what you mean about the job. Am trying to avoid big decisions until I finally get my head in a good place. I should hopefully then be more clear sighted where the job is concerned.

Oooh lots of lovely updates to read and SE too :j

Hope the training has gone well and you've enjoyed it.

Seeing things the opposite way around to you - I don't think I ever fitted employment in many ways...couldn't keep the lid on the box as it were (but did for 25 years), so SE has been much about me finding a place that suits me better...5 years in and quite a few more to go ;)

If Wenta still exists, they're a good resource. Local tax offices used to run courses for tax, expenses and so on which were useful.

Feel free to shout if I can help - set up and getting it off the ground is exciting and busy, mostly it was spreadsheet heaven :rotfl:

PS. Getting somewhere with Pension, S&S ISA, Cash savings and OPs...in that order is the apparently the way I should be going :)
    Back on the DFW Wagon:

    CC - £4,500 on 0% til 02/2019
    Loan - £12,063.84 as at 4/1/18
  • Wow! busy times, exciting times Brogden :)
Hope all going well with training and planning for SE.

I can see clearly now the rain has gone,
I can see all obstacles in my way...............

That is how it was a couple of weeks ago and I know what prompted that sudden clarity and adrenalin rush………

    • I had attended a training course in connection with my new self-employed role and I really quite enjoyed it.
    • I had to be credit checked . That is not something we would normally like but it caused me to spend a whole day starting with Clear Score (Equifax,) moving to Experian and finally Noddle (CallCredit.) As a result four letters of complaint have been written to various predators .

I saw it all…..nothing swept under the rug, nothing forgotten on purpose :o. In the chill air I stood naked at the top of the mountain. I saw the Moon, Venus, Saturn and a dizzying array of shooting stars. I had arrived. It was realisation and……acceptance of where I was with satisfaction at seeing clearly the (gratefully) few obstacles in my way :).

I have ignored credit files for, I reckon four years. I hate credit reference agencies. Why are they private companies? Why is there three? Why do some predators report to one, two or all? It isn’t good enough and the whole lot should be scrapped. What we need is for this function to be nationalised with a single record for each person (we’ll keep the red flag flying here.) Why can’t it be more like the Land Registry which is much more reliable and doesn’t come on with the selling tactics? Enough of this……..:(

The euphoria faded a little as I suffered some frustration with my desire to transfer my DB pension. Sisters and brothers, we are not free to do as we wish with our own property. It is the ‘nanny state’ and fear on the part of professional advisers that they will be stripped of their livelihood by the FCA for helping somebody . OK…..there are benefits in not transferring but there are big benefits to me in doing so. You won’t believe this from me but I am fed up of thinking about pensions at the moment :rotfl: Anyway, I am now approaching another IFA in the hope that he sees things a little differently and may not bankrupt me on the way. I’ll leave it at that for now and update when I have news.

So, whilst my joyous moment faded a little, I still feel ‘top hole’ as I know what I am doing next year. Whilst I see some challenges with my self-employed role and it may not work the way I would wish, I am not looking for jobs and that is very, very, very nice. Mentally settled for the time being and ready to put on my Rudolph antlers :T!!

I hope all is going well with everybody :)

……it’s gonna be a bright, bright sunshiny day……(well that might be pushing it a bit :rotfl:)
