Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
Great post. Love how you write. So full pay till xmas then not sure?

Must be a very challenging time for you. It's awful to have time to do the at home thing but not enjoy it because you don't know what the future holds. Being self employed myself for the last almost 4 years I sympathise entirely.

Glad you haven't lost your sense of humour though :)

  • Hey, Brogden. Just been catching up with your posts. Well done on the debt reduction! Sorry to hear about the redundancy, though, at least you are still on the payroll till Christmas. Good luck with the prospective job interview.
    Fingers crossed it goes well.
It may not feel it at the moment, but 'when one door closes' and all that...

    How goes it Broggers? :D

Ahh that SE chestnut...have you put together a business plan to see what you think is achievable and how you'd get there? Helps to focus the mind, but it is a big step and in the face of any nay-sayers would be tough going. I shut my Mum out after she regularly sabotaged my positive mindset with every negative possibility under the sun :rotfl:. Let her back in when I was in profit :rotfl:

Hope the employed role discussions have been fruitful :)

Thanks NOA(h) and Puzz. The cheeky girls are back………..;)

I am very grateful for you crossing your pants for me. Does this therefore mean you’ve got your knickers in a twist? I know this is not a position anybody would wish to be in but I believe it’s much more uncomfortable when it happens to gentlemen! :o For this reason I am trying to remain calm in my worries and my woes……….:)

Verb :)…….thanks as always for your good wishes and level headed approach. Those two above could learn a lot form you.

DFOD……thank you….I suppose there is at least some progress on the debts. When I say a ‘chaotic’ self-managed DMP, I maybe should say ‘erratic.’ I haven’t really done ‘a long plod.’ It seems I am either really changing the figures in a month or……I am doing next to b*gger all for months and months on end. At the moment I am in the ‘b*gger all’ part of the cycle but maybe there can be some movement at the end of the year……….. :)

HB……thanks again I am still trying to believe the ‘one door closes…..’ thing and am just about managing to keep the faith. When I think about the ‘slagging off’ I have delivered on certain corporate personalities and ‘things,’ I should be rejoicing at what has happened to me. Having said all of that, I will need to work so I’d better prepare myself for the ritual compromise and crushing of the spirit….or……SE…….

Oh SE? Cue Ms. Ali :D………….. I thought of you immediately I typed the words / letters ‘SE.’ I was wondering Ali if you maybe think I am not sensible enough to go SE? :( This ‘opportunity’ would mean me exiting the industry I have been in since leaving school. I am nowhere near getting a business plan together and would need to have a lot of questions answered and do a bit of consultation before I could put anything like that together and for it to make any sense!

Essentially, joining somebody’s payroll is a bit of a ‘cop out for wimps’ when I could ‘self-manage’ (those words again)…….or not. Having said all of that, I did a year or so ago declare ‘I do not live to work.’ I stand by that and if some activity….EE or SE puts enough ackers in the Gnat’s Vest for me then I have achieved my goal :).

I am not being obtuse or evasive on the subject of SE and I admire you to the moon. For myself, I need to lock myself in a room for several hours, divorce myself from life and think it all through with sufficient hankies to mop my brow for a real ‘get in deep with myself’ session . That may be coming BUT if I am called back to where I went last week then once again I will put this off………I can hear everybody angrily whispering….. ‘wot a wimp!’ :rotfl:

Thanks a trillion to everybody for the support and I look forward to letting you know my next thought…….when it finally arrives…...

      Broggers :D.

Good luck with the call back. A regular salary, paid holidays and sick pay are things to be desired! Not to mention pension contributions from an employer.
On the other hand I can see the benefits of SE but there must be so much unpaid work to find and keep the business.
Best of luck whatever the next step is.
