(In Best DelBoy voice) Excellent news Broggers, excellent news :D

Two biting the dust is awesome. Have you got your targets set for after these blighters have been nuked to orbit? :rotfl:

I'm musing over your previous post still as well. 'Tis interesting the variety of people we come across in life - forumites, work place colleagues and friends...even in the latter category I know I've made mistakes and they've drained me of energy and cash and then made the difficult decision to part company. Instant improvement in life!

I love the diaries board - even in the intervening years (07-13) when I didn't post, the mix of community, understanding, non-judgemental and humour makes it a special place to be. :)

In real life, I sometimes think the recession has helped - not for those who lost homes or jobs, but in the wider sense that even those not in debt seem relieved that the pressure to 'keep up with the Jones') has dropped and it's trendy to shop in Ald!, mend and make do and have a social night 'in' and not going out. Afterall, the country is in debt even if an individual isn't.

The MSE word has spread far and wide over the years - for those with money making more money and for us here in the diaries trying to get rid of debt and make survival a bit more palatable - I think the one big thing I've learnt is how much knowledge is needed to help us make more informed decisions that are hopefully the right ones for us, but I'd also like to think we're a friendly enough bunch here who really do care about each other and someone would post a 'STOP - Don't do that' if a hairbrained idea were to appear on a thread. :)

Bit of a ramble, but you probably get my gist. ;)

Brogden loving your posts and yours Ali. I think the anonymity on here helps. I'm the only one of my siblings still with a mortgage and while it's not large by today's standards, if my mum were to realise the amount, she would stop sleeping. Here I can babble on about my bits and pieces knowing that all I will get is support and/or the occasional reality check without worrying about what others may say. I love it.
Like lucielle, I'm keen to hear what's next for you.

Sorry Brogden - to clarify, I was sharing my experiences and my thoughts in relation to a post you had made (yours of today 08.42am). On reflection, I should have popped your post in a quote box so it made more sense.

Hope that clears it up. :)

Nothing dramatic but I can now confirm I am binning two blighters next week :T!!!!

    Motormile Finance (Swift Sterling) O/S debt £213.31 (F&F £130.00)

Opos Limited (the despicable Minicredit) O/S debt £145.00 (F&F £100.00)

I have already paid part of the MMF debt but with the agreed settlement figures I am paying a total of £230.00 on Wednesday to settle 'sundry' debtors totalling £358.31

This is not the most dramatic thing ever I know but the saving of £128.31 goes a long way in the envelopes :)

Can I just check that you have the F &F's in writing?

Creditors have been known to agree a F & F verbally and then once paid chase you for the remaining balance and deny all knowledge you had a F & F.

All that aside I think you have done brilliantly with sorting your debts and your budgeting - I love your envelope system.

    Good Morning Elephant!

Nice to hear from you again :)

I have read some stuff on here on F&F's and I know you are right but no, I don't have anything in writing. I suppose I am rushing it or winging it a bit. Taking account of my full debt scenario, these are relatively small. One of the DCA's is unbelievably incompetent so maybe I should have it in writing. I have told them I need a letter or email after the event to confirm the matter is closed but up until then I am chancing it!

If anything goes wrong I will kick up big style.....FOS etc.

I have some other thoughts on F&F's which I'll post later - I think I learned something yesterday :)

    Hi Lucielle,

I suppose the net effect is 'snowballing' in that I will not be using the monthly saving to fund the 'high life'.....cigar anyone?

I have harped on about 'self-managing' and would like to harp on about it more but the effect is that payments are up and down and all over the place but having said that I have reached a position of some control where everybody is getting what they are expecting hence 'almost' no nasty letters (bad) and almost no nasty phone calls (worse.) I do this to try to keep domestic unrest out of the way although there was some yesterday :(

Today I will open up my spreadsheets and apportion my coming salary payment between the 'pots'.......each month is different. I have already taken the decision to bin the two blighters mentioned but there is still a lot of 'apportioning' to do. The function will work out my 'net spendable' and this will be divided by 30 or 31 or whatever and that is the daily 'envelope amount!'

    Brogden x
