  • Go for the budget chinese tyres such as Autoguard, Nankang or Evergreen. Lasts ages and grips well in the dry. Comfortable too with minimal road noise. Can get all four, fitted for £200 including vat

And you end up in a wall or ditch in the wet.

no that's not true, they still grip decently in the wet although not as good as the more premium brands

These forums are about moneysaving but that does not mean recommending things can be dangerous in the wet like cheap/budget Chinese tyres.

I'm gonna regret biting i have no doubt.

Please tell us you don't do as you suggest and run Chinese tat on an M3?

If you do please let us know where and when you drive, then if there's any danger of a damp road we'll stagger our journeys to avoid being there at all.

probably along with the second hand brake parts that he suggested somebody could fit to an M3

Again I disagree. If the OP buys an e46 M3, which, for £12k can easily get one that's in very good condition (it has had regular servicing, maintenance etc) the tyres and brake discs/pads are most likely to be in good condition and would not need replacing for a while. Especially only doing 4k miles/year. Also the brakes/pads and tyres on this type of car lasts ages, around 30k-40k.

When it does come to replacing, the OP can always get used discs/pads/tyres for a quarter of the price. Well worth paying a small premium for a comfortable, smooth luxury car.

here is the little gem where he suggested somebody should buy a 12K M3 and then fitt second hand discs and pads and part worn tyres

    Joker. :money:
  • I've been using Evergreens for some years (current car has 205/55/16s @ £65 each, fitted), and have found them more than adequate.

The dealer put Evergreens on my 75yo mother's Peugeot 207 estate. Two of them have now been replaced by Avons, due to punctures - she reports them as being MUCH better.
