Goodyear Efficient Grip were good on our Astras and Zafiras.
The Michelin Energy was fine on the Astra, previous generation to yours, but not as good on the heavier Zafira mk2(based on your Astra).
Best tyre on the heavier Zafira was the Michelin Primacy.
We had some Michelin winter tyres but in a large city like London they were of little use.
They are changing the Zafiras slowly but surely to.Skoda.Octavia estates with all wheel drive.
Stick with Korean, Nexen/Kumho/Hankook etc and the usual suspects like Avon, Goodyear, Michelin, Dunlop etc and you will be fine.
Avoid the likes of Wanli and LingLong0 -
Another vote for Uniroyal Rainsports0

By winter tyres I mean the ones with the Mountain & Snowflake symbol in addition to the M+S markings - as opposed to having only M+S markings which are usually more knobbly and noisy, although they are great for off-road, lanes, and farm tracks.
Compared to winter tyres, M+S are not actually that great in snow.
What a load of tosh. I have M+S tyres on my car. Factory fit 20" 45 profile. They are neither noisy nor nobbly and very good in the snow. Not quite as good as a dedicated winter tyre, but good enough to keep a two ton, rear wheel drive saloon car mobile and pointing in the right direction during some appalling prolonged snowy periods here in the UK and abroad.0 -

Oh dear - you didn't read my post properly. It's not a load of tosh actually.
I said - USUALLY noisy and nobbly - of course there are exceptions - that's why I didn't say ALL are noisy and nobbly.
Go to any tyre depot and have a look - the majority of M&S are for 4X4 vehicles these days.0 -

I think its more the case that most 4x4 "off road" tyres are M+S marked rather than most M+S tyres are for 4x4's. If you look specifically for "all-season" tyres for cars, they tend to also have the M+S marking but none of the nobbles. Some also have the snowflake mark too but, from reviews I have read, these tend to suffer from a very high wear rate used year round.0 -
I cant understand why tyres are marked M&S.
I have been shopping in this store since it was a penny bazaar and in all this time i have never seen them selling car tyres0 -

Very true. However, I've been shopping in Boots since before they bought Timothy White's and I've never seen a washing machine in a store, but I still bought one from them online, so don't be surprised if at some point you start seeing Twiggy advertising tyres :j.0
