If you want something with real go and aren't too bothered being seen in a VW, and are a director then you can do worse than this.

Ok its not as cool as the brz or gt86 but its a cracking deal. No automatic and the bloke simon ive been dealing with doesn't seem like the sharpest knife.

I've only test driven the 86 and found it to be a very nice place to be, everything is very well set out in the cab from an ergonomic point of view.

As to the drive. Acceleration is adequate, about on par with my old ST202 import (178 bhp if none of the ponies have escaped). I did not have the chance to test out the handling as the manager was with me and I had to keep the traction control on.:( The grip seems good and the car feels well balanced, no dramas but as mentioned I couldn't push it too much down the country lanes.

There is a slightly disconnected feel to the steering due to the electric power assist, similar to that on the Mk2 Mr2. It's not that bad, you get used to it.

Ride is comfortable enough, no luxo barge like the VRS ;) but not too crashy. Coming from a lowered car will have coloured my impression of the ride though.

BRZ vs GT86, the BRZ from what I have read has slightly different suspension set up to the 86 and is more atuned to grippiness than the 86.

All in all a very nicely balanced car, smiles per mile ratio will be high. I can get a good discount off the BRZ so very tempting.

A couple of my friends have 86s and are more than happy with them as everyday commuters.
  • I have driven the GT86 and its an amazing car for what it is. Similar sort of cars to the s2000 and rx8. High revving and less torquey but brilliant handling and lots of fun.

Depends what you prefer. If you want a car that pulls like a train and don't like to work the engine for it to move then it probably isn't the car for you.

    Something like an M3 perhaps?

Yes (ignoring your sarcasm) the M3 does have more torque but it's still relatively a high revving screamer. Some people may prefer a lazy auto 335d instead

I don't think you'll see anything in my post asking for alternative suggestions, I want views on the two cars listed. While your post may be useful in other threads in this one it was a waste of your time writing it and mine reading it, so if you have nothing useful to contribute about the GT86 or the BRZ can I respectfully ask you to stay away?
    Ah, right I see :wall:

Definitely the Toyota then, perfectly suited for people with no sense of humour. Enjoy.

Anyway, despite this, I'll chip in. I find the Toyota to be underpowered for the chassis / tyres / weight, meaning that it does not feel half as alive as the layout would suggest.

I've not tried the BRZ, but imagine it's much the same.

Right, so your suggestion was supposed to be amusing was it? Pity everybody else who saw it missed that too.

Anyway, thanks for the subsequent links, I'm really looking for the views of people who actually own one but I'll add those to teh other reviews I've looked at.
