Read earlier posts please - if they hadn't said to everyone "your pitcher is on the way" there wouldn't have been a problem. They did and we (or some of us - I'll exclude ben) had to work hard to get them to abide by the contract they created with that message.
...so i think they should be given time to sort things out!
They had opportunities, but didn't - only by pressure and copying in GM executives did action happen....Complaining about things like this is probably going to stop this company and others from giving out freebes in the future?
Taking your line of argument further - there's a bloke you should really direct that to. His name is Martin Lewis and he is a right pain - always complaining about banks and credit card companies. Follow your argument through and tell him it's pointless. Tell him to stop and then they'll all treat us like royalty rather than mugs. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
now - as ben says, can we stop the arguments and press on to the next freebie please?0 -
Agreed Edna, lets move on, and I thought I was helping get things sorted by complaining!0

Wheres this Martin? haha
A complaining about a free pitcher not turning up and complaining about banks and credit card companies is hardly the same.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
We'll agree to differ OwtForNowt - as thelurch says, let's all move on.0

Yes but you are missing the point, these marketing companies can also be employed by the banks/credit card companies to run "incentives/freebies" to take out loans/cards, yes a free jug is not the same but the principle is.
If you had been coaxed into a loan by the guarantee of a free Nintendo Wii ( topical! ) for example and it didnt materialise you would be a bit upset.
The scale is different but the principle is the same0 -

- The only reason most of us got any pitchers at all is because we complained & kept complaining. The offer was set up incorrectly on the website, with everyone who responded being told "Your pitcher is on the way". No quantity limit was mentioned on the site, & the only people who found out about the 1000 quantity limit were those who contacted the ASA, many weeks after completing the terms of the offer & after having got nowhere with complaining to RPM. Most of us didn't contact the ASA, so from where we were standing, we'd provided e-mail addresses for their mailing list to satisfy our part of the bargain, & then RPM hadn't supplied the promised item.
- Several weeks passed between people supplying the required info to RPM & people complaining because nothing had arrived. We don't need to give them time to sort out the mess they got themselves into - they had all those weeks in which to liaise with their client about the number of responses they'd had. They also had all those weeks to remove the offer so that no-one else could respond to it or at least amend it on the website, but they didn't do so, & made the existing problem worse.
- E-mails to RPM often went unanswered for several days. Even when they did eventually reply, they didn't mention the 1000 limit - I have e-mails from 3 different RPM staff, & the first I've heard about the 1000 limit is from posts made in this thread yesterday.
- People who eventually got two either ended up in that situation because either the first promised despatch was apparently sent by standard Royal Mail delivery & didn't actually turn up, or because one was sent by standard or special delivery but was so poorly packaged that it arrived broken. By the time all of this unfolded, RPM were dealing with an increasing number of complaints & decided to send out more by special delivery, but they couldn't stop any that were sent by standard delivery that hadn't arrived, so some people got two.

All RPM had to say was that the delay in delivering was because they were having to get more produced. Instead they came out with this "you have been unsuccessful, but we will send you details of a new competition soon c**p"
They clearly had under estimated how many people would sign up to this freebie, and then didnt know how to deal with it when they realised they didnt have enough pitchers for everyone, so, they tried to lie about it, and it back fired, mainly because of the power of this website.
I like complaining when I am in the right.
On a separate note, has anyone who received an intact pitcher, emailed Jemma to say (1) they have now received their pitcher, or (2) thanked her for sorting it out (eventually).
I guess she will be using this incident to fill the 'problem solving' competency of her future job applications for years to come....0 -
