Fuming over accident

Jreacher - that was extremely hurtful. I did not expect the receptionist to look after my daughter (goats have kids, I have children.) And I was stood next to my daughter holding her hand.
If you had read the thread from the beginning you will also see I no longer have any plans to sue the leisure centre.
Please take more care before posting.Happily married mama of 50 -
I never mentioned asking for financial compensation .Youre obviously very mercenary.
Personally there are certain organisations I would not dream of seeking financial compensation from e.g. A charity, a church, a school etc.
To me a leisure centre that serves the local community is in the same bracket.
The kid seems fine with no lasting damage. Seeking financial compensation for an accident that could have easily been avoided by the parent just holding the hands of their daughter seems wrong.
On a side note to get the damage the kid has got then they must have been running. I'm a bit sick of parents who let their kids run around indoors in public places. It's a reception of a leisure centre not a playground.
Did you not manage to read the op,was holding the child's hand..
I'm a bit sick of posters who go on about compo ..0 -

I gave up reading after a few posts as it started to disintegrate into a row between yourselves and some other posters.
If they were holding the kids hand then the injury shouldn't have happened. I don't see how a kid can in the OP's words "go flying" if they're holding onto her hand.0 -

Perhaps it was a normal " hand holding " after coming out of a party , rather than a grip of iron.
Who holds a child's hand in a way that stops them falling over at that age?0 -
My daughter slipped on one of the wet footprints, this meant she skidded on one foot into the metal posts seperating the entrance and exit door. She had one leg each side of the post and it hit her in the center of her face. If the post hadn't been there she would not have stopped so suddenly and skidded for a little way. The flooring is tile in the reception area.
I was still holding her hand as she fell, it happened so quickly I didn't even have time to pull her back to stop the fall. It happened in a split second.Happily married mama of 50 -

It's all about having good reflexes. When you're walking hand in hand with a young child you need to be ready for things like this happening.0 -
If I had known or suspected water on the floors I would have held her tighter and told her to be vigilant as well as being more vigilant myself. However it was the main entrance of a busy leisure centre so I naturally assumed it was a reasonably safe situation and needed no extra attention other than holding my DDs hand.Happily married mama of 50

I would have thought that being near a pool filled with water, and the fact you saw a bather who was wet in the area the accident happened would have been reason enough to "suspect water on the floors" - it was an accident.
