I will obviously contact the Management Company tomorrow morning, but should I be taking this further?
I certainly would, send the DRC an unstamped letter or six with "cheque enclosed" on the outside, send the PPC an invoice for your time in dealing with the DPC, threaten them with court action if it is not paid. Cost them time, cost them money. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -
Does anybody have a geographical number for Capital2Coast? I am not ringing their 0844 number. (Nothing on SayNoTo0870.com).Thank you for reading this message.0

DON'T CALL THEM!! What are you hoping to achieve? Never phone a PPC or debt collection company. They won't listen. They just want your money (even if the principal has cancelled). All they'll do is twist what you say against you, and you'll end up frustrated and no further. Only communicate in writing, where there's a verifiable paper trail.0

I am waiting for the Management company to send me an e-mail from C2C confirming that the tickets have been cancelled.
My wife e-mailed them (on Christmas Eve!) explaining it all, and included the e-mail from the Management company, but they have ignored it. I wanted to ask them why they have ignored it and put it to a debt management company, without further explanation.
So you think I should not try to contact them?
What about the debt management company; should I ignore that and wait to see if they want to take her to court? (Do you or anybody else know anything about them?).
Finally, we have just noticed on the Vehicle Registration Document, her surname has been mis-spelt - just by one letter. Does this make a difference - can they sue somebody that doesn't really exist?Thank you for reading this message.0 -

I can answer that for you. It's because they are greedy and a bit thick.
Keep everything in writing. Focus on getting written confirmation that the Management Company have requested that they cancel, and then WRITE to them pointing out that the Principal has withdrawn support fr their claim, and pursuing it now would be completely fruitless for them. They have no cause of action in any potential court claim.
Mis-spelling a name makes no difference at all.Je Suis Cecil.0 -
And any debt collector has as much right to sue you in the small claims court as I do ... Yes they can do it; no they won't, as they have no standing to bring a claim as they were not a party to the original alleged debt.0

So they work on the basis that they 'frighten' people to pay? Does that mean no debt collector who isn't the person / organisation that didn't create the debt cannot bring it to court.? The letter actually says
Can they instigate court proceedings?"..we will recommend to the creditor's solicitor that court action should be taken to recover what you owe"
(At last, been having difficulty in posting for awhile).Thank you for reading this message.0 -
You've got it. It's all a big frightener based on the fact that the general public doesn't comprehend contract law, and has an innate fear of getting into 'the wrong' with any kind of authority (the courts).
Yes, the creditor could take legal action but they'd have a very weak case against you.
That's why they largely prefer to stick with frightening you.Je Suis Cecil.0 -
