Well, it was an eye surgeon told me that so I must ask him again. Course it contributes to it, but I'm impressed you managed to pick up on the one vaguely contentious disease in the list. Drowning man, straw etc.
The others are well accepted as related to nicotine consumption - next time you meet someone whose toes are dead who's not a smoker, let us know.

As for 100% better than cancerettes - you're saying they're utterly harmless.

I was going to say it makes no odds to me whether someone smokes or not, but the sad truth is it makes a big difference. Smokers voluntarily pay whacking great amounts of tax, then depart this world early. This means they pay the pensions of those who don't smoke and live longer. The retirement age would have to be higher if there were no smokers. So, bizarrely, thanks.

You are most welcome, but I no longer smoke and hope to live to collect a pension now :o

Oh and I meet numerous people with necrotic feet, toes and indeed legs every week for amputation, many of which have never smoked in their lives, but they are unfortunate enough to have diabetes :(

E-Cigs are now accepted as the best method of stopping smoking, ask any ex-smoker who uses them. I started on 36mg/ml Nicotine liquid, after 1 month moved to 24mg and I am now on 18mg liquid, next move will be to 12, then 6 and finally 0mg/ml. Hopefully after that I will no longer have the need to vape :o

I inhale nicotine like others inhale junk food and alcohol :o my inhalation is a means to an end. My BMI is perfect and I walk 10 miles per day. I can't understand the victimization of people who use E-Cigs by others on this thread ?

Once again, the lesser of 2 evils and a means to an end ;)
I am trying, honest;) very trying according to my dear OH:rotfl:

Diabetes is an entirely diifferent disease - in the absence of an obvious cause like that, it's due to good old Gallaghers. Similarly you could say mouth cancer is caused by warts virus. It is in a minority of cases, but in most cases it's fags.

It's a fairly specious comparison, alcohol and fags. Most drinkers have a few beers on a Friday night. Most smokers have a fag when they get up, have another after breakfast, another on the way to work....

    I've a family history of living to 100 and I'm a thin, fit, non-smoking...motorcyclist.

Me thinks we stray too far from the original thread here :rotfl:

You asked me to tell you the next time I met someone with dead toes that wasn't a smoker and I did :p

I'd be swapping that motorcycle for a bicycle if I was you too, do you know the damage your output is doing to my lungs :rotfl:

Well indeed. I didn't see any victimization though. Just people who don't think it's "100% better" than fags - that is, harmless.

I think your lungs have more to worry about than what comes out of my 125, or for that matter, any one else's juggernaut, bonfire or Icelandic volcano.

The real trouble with E-Cigs and the Juices are that they do not as yet attract tax in the same way as cancer sticks do. At first we had information put out there that they were dangerous and worse than normal cigs. Then when the masses ignored that we were then threatened with an overall EU ban on them....Still no change. So now we are slowly moving towards the end game. Big pharma and big tobacco companies are buying up the E-Cig manufacturers and the E-juice makers.....so you can be pretty sure once these guys have them then everything will be just fine.
Oh and when governments decide how to approach the taxing of these products then they will be in a corner shop near you everywhere and advertised on mainstream TV.
Actually I was in Canterbury recently and in the main street they have opened an E-Cig cafe where you can go and enjoy a puff indoors free from the tobacco police....It really is wonderful to live in a "free" country.

They already are - on both counts!

You're not consuming tar so you don't get the cancer causing chemicals of cigarettes. Your nicotine habit still puts you at risk of high blood pressure, stroke, angina, heart attack, peripheral blood vessel disease ( dead toes) , macular degeneration (blind), tooth loss and don't forget impotence.
    Good luck.

I certainly see your point. I'm so glad of this halfway house however because it was a habit I couldn't kick and I was clutching at straws being at the COPD stage. I feel so much better since switching to e-cigs, not to mention the money I've saved.

That brings me neatly back to the point of this thread - to save further costs on e-cig products than what the big shops and some specialised retailers are charging in Norn Irn for the products. It's a bandwagon and as always there are a lot of people jumping on. £6 a 10ml bottle is scandalous when you can have it delivered to your house for £1.75 from a UK company. Same goes for batteries and drip tips.

If I can save one person money on all this stuff I'll be happy.

That's fine in principle, as long as both are made from the same/safe chemicals. The point I was making earlier is that there is often a reason why there is a price disparity. And I really hope that whatever cheaper alternative is being used to allow the lower prices, is safe.

Of course it could just be some are pricing the same stuff higher, but without any regulation, how do you know for sure?

As for the hardware (batteries and drip tips), it really doesn't make any difference so that's a good (safe!) saving to make.

I've often wondered why smokers don't just grow their own. It used to be a big crop down south when De valera's madcap economic theories made it profitable, as import duty was so high. Some friends in Cootehill, which is not much further south than here, still call one of their fields the Tobacco field.

The dope men seem to be able to do it, although usuallly under glass.
