There are so many of the oils being imported from China by every bedroom seller out there, how long until we hear people getting ill from it? A lot of these sellers won't know or particularly care what is in them and some of the Chinese manufacturers could be putting allsorts in there to save a few pennies.
How do you know where your oils come from and how do you know whats really in them?
I agree with you. As far as I can see the only safety is to buy from someone who has been manufacturing for a while and hasn't yet killed anyone. That's why I buy Hangsen liquids. I'd feel much happier altogether if the government set a standard and introduced checks. To be honest the same goes for the batteries and drip tanks.0 -
You can always make your own - really easy and cheap. That way you know exactly whats in it.

Perhaps its a Chinese covert chemical warfare operation!!0 -
But most people won't. Thousands of people are blindly buying the liquids from all over the place without knowing what's really in there. How long before we hear of people being slowly poisoned over the long term?!
Perhaps its a Chinese covert chemical warfare operation!!
To be honest I think most people start either from High Street shops or from advice given on websites like this so they begin with the same warnings on e-liquids as I did.0 -

Do you mean big name high street shops? There are lots of little independents down here and every privately owned corner shop seems to have them for sale too. Then add on all the cheaper online outlets and I'd hazard a guess that most people don't buy from big name high street shops.
I mean the little private shops. They too have reputations they want to keep and want customers to come back instead of dying from e-liquid poisoning. The big names are largely dragging behind on this and they're not giving the service smaller shops and kiosks are. Remember, big or small, they have to have customer liability insurance to trade.0 -

I deal with Chinese manufacturers on a regular basis and import a lot of goods all year round (nothing e-cig related). There are many many trustworthy Chinese people I deal with but I also spent a long long time finding those people amongst all the 'undesirables'. It would be very easy for the small independents to not have a clue what they are actually buying. Many of the UK wholesalers that might be supplying the independents are nothing more than bedroom sellers with little experience too. I doubt even Customs officers at the borders know what is safe or not when they are checking imports.
It really is a minefield and where peoples health is concerned I find it slightly disturbing that it is so unregulated. It would be much more reassuring if the big chains did sell them at reasonable prices because at least they would go through their rigorous requirements (unless of course its horse meat!!).0 -
I'm not sure many of the sellers have thought about it, the same as I doubt many of the 'smokers' have really thought about. Blind faith and all that.

I suppose the lack of people dropping down dead is a reasonable clue that the liquids aren't really that toxic.0 -

I don't use e-cigs but I am an ex smoker. I actually considered importing and selling them myself but for the risks I have talked about here, I decided against it. I'm not trying to scare anyone, I just find it all a bit odd. I'm probably completely wrong and could have made a small fortune!!0 -
Its only my personal opinion but anyone who inhales anything like this is not an ex smoker.
You are still a smoker, its just that you 'smoke' something different to a 'normal' cigarette.
I went the whole hog and stopped altogether, I haven't had a ciggie for nearly 6 months and I can truly say 'I am an ex smoker' and I am very very proud of myself.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0
